Potential Charlton buyer: "I think I'll buy Charlton. Just gonna pop on to a fans' forum to check out the supporter base before sinking billions in."

    ***logs onto CL***

"My word Mavis, good grief! Cancel my 3'oclock in Brussels."

Coincidentally, an ex-pro (Palace-Wimbledon-Millwall) I used to drink with was called Pikey to his pals, is that word a complete no no these days, or still a grey area?

It wasn't just his pals that called him that :expressionless:

A young fella called his mate a pikey and some have managed to relate it to the KKK, Nazi Germany and The 1967 Abortion Act.

It’s a trend on here. Much better when we discuss Kerry Katona.

I thought baggie meant mole grips required top & bottom.

If his name was Dave Pike, not a problem, if he owns a caravan and travels to different locations it might be. More inland than the coast will cause issues.
I used to play football with a Dave Pike who was known as pikey, which was nice.
Ha, was just going to post the same! Decent keeper

Of course. Bit of a lad back in the day and not averse to trying it on with a team mates wife :hushed:

I'm more appalled by professional athletes getting rat assed than any naughty words they might have used. I hope every one of the piss heads in that video is playing elsewhere next season.

It’s pretty safe to say Morgan Fox and Roger Johnson will be.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the camera turned and Karl Robinson would be standing there effing and blinding.

I think I'm too old for all this, but can we still use the word "diddycoy" my old mum used to use it all the time.

Cool I've learned a new word. Personally I always preferred tinker in a thick Irish accent.

I was trying to imagine players like Kinsella, Kish, Steve Brown etc, behaving in a similar way, and whether Curbs would tolerate it? Not because young blokes with plenty of cash do not quite commonly behave in such a way, but because they are professional athletes who should be keeping their bodies in tip top condition. Additionally, they are representatives of CAFC on and off the pitch.

I did see Eddie Youds "tired and emotional" a couple of times in O'Neills in Blackheath, although no one had a camera on their phone at the time, and I dread to think where you would have got it shoved if you had.

Bet there's a few players from that era that are glad there were no camera phones at the player of the year dos at the meridian.

If this was Millwall or Palace players people would want them strung up

Yeah, Big Bad World is a bit slow today.
Sometimes it is better to watch those who, when it is other clubs' players/fans/whatever, fall over themselves to be at the top of the morality tree but suddenly find that their moral compass has found a new north when it is their own club.

I've actually really enjoyed reading this thread and am pleased that there are just as many calling it for what it is as there are those that are trying to pass it off as a non event.
This post went a bit unnoticed but cuts through all the nonsense on this thread.

If one of our resident Millwall fans can see this for what it is then I think you're fighting a losing battle trying to defend those involved.

Exactly - There was one player (in the curbs era) who used to get absolutely wankered in the Venue every single Saturday. Had there been camera phones or social media, most on here would have wanted him hung, drawn and quartered.

I recall allegations of a large eared gentleman frequenting The Venue.

Curbs didn't keep him long in the overall scheme of things.

'The video is from October 2016 and was filmed during an international break and shared on a private WhatsApp group.

The video contains language directed at Charlton teammate Mikhail Kennedy and a comment at fellow teammate Josh Magennis’ expense. The club has spoken to Kennedy and Magennis and both confirmed they took it in good spirit. Both confirmed there is no bad blood between any of the individuals involved.'

    Well there ya go.
