    We'll be in Blackpool overnight for the match next Tuesday & not back home until late afternoon on Weds.

    Decided to give this a miss as another 2 hours driving for the event , then back to Wadhurst.

    I'm sure @Weegie will give SCP a hug from me.....

    Another enthralling night .... when once more we listened, rapt as kids with their favourite bedtime story, to the familiar tales of that magical day when the paint had barely dried and the tarmac scarcely cooled before the big red gates finally swung open and we were back at The Valley, our Valley, and there was no shirt for Pardew hahaha, and the ball was squared to Walsh whose unerring shot put the returning exiles ahead with a mere seven minutes played, and there was no way that team would ever lose on such a day.

    A panel of true legends, including a far too rare appearance by Lennie Lawrence, and good to see Roger Alwen too. And amongst us sat further greats - Leeebuurn, Mortimer, Walsh, Bolder, Lisbie and Peacock.

    And outside we could see the stadium, very different now to the not-exactly-a-showpiece that welcomed us back that special day, in our grand old club's remarkable history a day both far distant and as fresh as yesterday. Not long now before the century comes up, which hopefully we can spend as always, with good mates and indifferent football. Unique is a word that's currently out on parole, but soon enough we can use it again with limitless pride.

    A great evening spent in the company of @GlassHalfFull and @Weegie Addick listening to all the wonderful stories recalling our past glories, and some low points, and wondering would I ever get the love for my club back? It was great while it lasted.
