Charlton Athletic FC 1922 - 23 colourised team photo , large 16 X 12. Museum fundraiser

The Charlton Athletic Museum have obtained a limited number ( 10 ) of large 16x12 colourised prints of the 1922-23 team photo. This was Charlton's second season as a Football League club and the picture is taken in front of the newly built main stand at The Valley. This team were FA Cup giant killers beating three first division teams before being knocked out by Bolton at the Valley in front of 41,023. Bolton went on to win the cup in the famous Wembley white horse cup final.

We do thanks, we're using that and other pics to work out the names

This team picture appears in Colin Cameron's book Home & Away but there are no line ups. In the same book there is a team picture from the season before with a full line up so we can identify most of the players1

Even with modern dyes, red is notorious for being non-colourfast. Perhaps some of the shirts had been washed more often, or in hotter water, than the others?0
