Not counting Bolton when we both had ten men when was the last time we beat ten men and how many times have we failed to do so.

Chelsea away when M Bent scored but when else.

One that sticks in my mind (as well as my throat) is when we lost 2-1 at Coventry, the season we got relegated. Aloisi got sent off just after Andy Hunt had put us ahead.

Yes, we were talking about that one after the Villa game. Sure we beat a luton team when we had ten men ourselves as well but can't remember when. late 90's maybe

That Coventry game annoys me still, Curbs making one of the worst subs I think I've ever seen, taking Redfearn off who was playing well, and bring Barnes on when the pitch was a bog, and it weren't time for nice football

In the first promotion season, Dabizas got sent off at the Valley for Newcastle, think it was the game we were 2-0 down and come back to 2-2, with a late Pringle equaliser.

and of course there was Old Trafford in the Cup 1994 when Schmeichel got sent off just before half time and they still battered us in the 2nd half 3-1.

i'm wracking my brain and finding it really hard to think of games with opponents sent off, particularly at the Valley.

Remember Stuart McCall getting sent off down after going mental down in the North/East corner flag. Remember at a do a week later someone asked Johnny R what he had said to him to cause him to flip, and Robbo said 'i dunno, i was only asking him how his lovely wife was'

Vieira got sent of once for Arsenal at The Valley and pretty sure they went on to win that one too.

I'm sure Andy Todd got sent off playing for Bolton against us at The Valley & we beat them that day - he joined us not long after

yeah, for fighting with graeme stuart and putting his hands up to his throat!
  • That Bolton game featured three sendings off, Stuart and Todd and another Bolton player late in the game for two bookings - from memory we won 3-1?

Another Bolton game from a season or so before, I think there were around 10/11 bookings although it wasn't a dirty match - the referee (M Pierce?) booked someone early on for an innocuous challenge and having set the standard stuck to it from there-on, inevitably someone was going to get two yellows and I think it was Simon Webster, the score finished 3-3. I remember the Bolton fans singing the referee is a w*nker as he was booking one of our players for another non-foul.
  • Villa last week!
