'Ipswich want to re-sign Charlton midfielder Darren Ambrose in a cut-price deal. (The Sun) '

If ZZ goes as well the club can raise around 3.5 million out of the both of these. The accountants will be happy.

Ambrose is out of contract in the summer and quoted as saying "It's flattering. They know what kind of player I am do anything could happen".

    So is it:

    (1) Genuine
    (2) A pack of lies
    (3) Is his agent angling for an improved contract for him at the Valley?
    (4) Any combination of the above

And are we that bovvered if he goes anyway?

From a wages perspective he's probably on a Premier League contract which could, perhaps, be utilised to persuade a decent replacement to come to us. Or, on second thoughts, help us to fight the credit crunch.
