What is your best EVER Charlton goal?

When Rufus scored at wembley to take us to extra time that was amazing.

Think my best goal has to be a Mendoncas volley at wembley.

I also remember Mortimer at home to Forrest, he went round about five players and smahsed it in. Legend old Morts

Kinsella - Norwich at home to make it 4-4 (I think). Dipping half volley from 30yards out.

Morts away to Leeds in 98/99 season.

Ray Treacy V Palarse at Smellhurst in an FA Cup replay (night game)....can't remember the year.
I think we won 0-2.....we went absolutely loopy and we simply pitched forward and cascaded down the terracing in our thousands, it was a shot/goal that you see only once in a lifetime(if you're lucky that is!).....it was at the supermarket end...we were on the grass bank at the other end.....I swear the ball is still on it's way to Mars!
Was all of 35 yards...if not more and was still rising as it hit the roof of the net......I kid you not.
Anyone else on here remember that one? Sheer utter joy of the highest order....oh what a memory!

January 1969, there's a bit of a thread on this game already, Home & Away? ..... we went on to play Arsenal at Highbury in the next round - lost 2-0 after Matt Tees hit the post with a diving header

Palace game: we'd drawn 0-0 at The Valley and the replay night was wet and slippery. Remember there was no proper terracing where we were standing, just a grassy bank. When Treacy scored we all slithered down the bank and landed on top of each other. We defended so well that night and hit them repeatedly on the break.

I couldn't wait to get to school next morning to gloat, lol

Graham Moore's volley against Norwich that hit the back of the net so quickly you could hardly see it - in fact, now I certainly wouldnt see it at all! The assisting tee-up came from Luciano Masiello.

Lisbie's run and shot v Liverpool (3rd?) would qualify if it wasn't a total accident from start to finish!
The screamer that Parker scored at St Mary's in the 2-3 televised defeat a few years back must qualify.

Best Goal I have seen at The Valley was Shaun Barlett's against Leicester. I enjoyed Gary Poole's away to QPR, absolute screamer. Bailey's this year against Wolves was tasty.

The most important goals would be Clapham's oggie, Newt's screamer, Mendonca's hattrick and Rufus's header.

[cite]Posted By: Charlton Dan[/cite]Kinsella - Norwich at home to make it 4-4 (I think). Dipping half volley from 30yards out.

You are thinking of when we beat them 2-0 on Boxing Day for the dipping Volley. Jason Lee got the equaliser in the 4-4, or was it Leaburn, one got the 3rd and one got the 4th, can't remember, great game though.

Ronnie Moore against Spurs in the cup 84 I think. It was Ronnie Moore wasnt it. It was my first away game in the cup and remeber drinking in the Robert E Lee on Tottenham high road, and singing "well see you at the valley"

Lost 2-1 in the replay I think?

Different basis, remember that well, I still can't believe he scored a header........a header, from well outside the box.

Talking of Newts what about his strike in the play off semi against Ipswich at The Valley?

For me, since I've been around the most important goals were Shirtliffs at St Andrews, because I think CAFC might have died if we had gone down that year.

Best goals? Most of Paul Mortimers I'd say, some of Shaun Newtons rockets, particularly the one in the play off semi. From earlier times, Paddy Powells winner vs Brighton in the 4-3.

Mendoncas first one at Wembley is one of my favourites, because up to that moment I had this nagging fear that we might freeze on the day, I think some of this was due to that miserable day at the Full members cup final in 1987. Once he turned the defender, you just knew it was going in.....

Actually another good one was Kim Grant away at Liverpool screamer when we were 2-0 down FA Cup. That place was scary when the kop end were singing at the start.

Also Morts goal (north stand end) against Huddersfield it was on TV. Did some amazing skill in the box then smashed it in!

Jeffers against brum a few years back. Even though it was him, murphy and thomas that made it.

A quality flowing move where one minute we're defending a corner, and the next celebrating. Nice.
