Chris Solly to go under the knife

Ahead of Tuesday night's clash at Shrewsbury Town, Head of Medical Services Alastair Thrush provides the latest from Sparrows Lane's treatment room
Chris Solly will undergo exploratory key-hole surgery on his right knee this week.
The full-back suffered the injury to his right knee against Blackpool in March and, despite best efforts with conservative management that included a return to running outside, he has been unable to complete the high-end movements and ballwork required of him to allow him to return to full training.
As such, the decision has been taken - in conjunction with his knee specialist - for Solly to undergo exploratory arthroscopic surgery. If the procedure is simple as hoped, the academy graduate should return in time for the start of pre-season.3 -
Good luck Chris.6

Best wishes to Chris for a speedy and full recovery.5

Sorry, is that the same knee that's given him problems? Or is it both knees?0

Best wishes Chris.
Proper Charlton.5 -

Good luck Chris, one of my favourite players of recent times. I can't help but think this injury could be career ending however. Complete guesswork mind but he's been going backwards or at least sideways in the past few seasons, and this injury won't exactly help.0

All the best Chris, shame you'll miss the play off final.5

I think we guessed that it more than just a knock, knowing, as we do, Chris' history.
Really hope that some magic can be done on that knee so that he won't look back on this weird season as his last.
Good luck, Chris.5 -
Sadly I think we've seen the last of him.0

Think we all hope it’s successful regardless of what we think of him as a player now. I still maintain that if it wasn’t for injuries he’d be at the highest level by now. Even if he has already played his final game for us I wouldn’t be opposed to calling him a legend, him and Jacko have been with us through good and (very) bad and will go down in club history for it.8

Wish him all the best. Has been part of the good and bad times.1

Next season is his testimonial season so I’m sure he’ll be around3

Looks like we will too....happyvalley said:All the best Chris, shame you'll miss the play off final.

Dont write and him off,he is Charlton through and through, and we could surely do with a few more like him,he is only about 27,and if we are to get out of this division,we will need all his experience and entusiasm3

like there’s a pre season plan in place.paulie8290 said:Ahead of Tuesday night's clash at Shrewsbury Town, Head of Medical Services Alastair Thrush provides the latest from Sparrows Lane's treatment room

Hindsigt is the most beautiful thing in the world and he should have been rested with that dodgy pitch at Blackpool and Anfernee should have come in really.1

People have been saying that since after the first Powell season, and that was six years ago. He's always managed to come back and put a decent run of games together after injury, there's no reason why it won't be the same story again here. Hopefully the surgery is a success and he's ready for the start of next seasongolfaddick said:Sadly I think we've seen the last of him.

You don't become a bad player overnight at the age of 27. By his own high standards Chris Solly has had a poor season even though plenty of others have been just as poor or worse.
In his case his form is clearly down to his injuries. I very much hope to see him back inn the first team after this surgery.5 -
I definitely agree that I don't think this is the last of him. But undergoing exploratory surgery is rarely good. It seems to me that the pain management they've been using isn't working anymore.Garrymanilow said:

Good luck mate - look forward to seeing you back next season!0

If the club has organised the surgery Chris will go under the knife and come back up with a pair of big plastic boobies2
-
Good luck Chris. Wishing you a strong and speedy recovery.3

Hope we’ll see him back in the team next season. I’ll never forget him being out numbered 3-1 against a Cardiff break and he still managed to win the ball.5

Maybe this injury has been holding him back and we see the old Solly next season8

Yes, it'll be interesting whether it's been holding him back all seasonRedhenry said:Maybe this injury has been holding him back and we see the old Solly next season
Either way, for next season we definitely need another RB, whether as cover for Solly or as first choice. Neither Konsa nor Djiksteel are ideal in that position, and Konsa will presumably have left anyway1
