  • I went to Bexley Grammar and we were made to wear caps for 3years at school and on way there & home (under pain of death if you didn't). Problem for me was I used to go home on a bus that a bunch of Crown Woods kids were on by the time I got on it - needless to say my mum had to buy a number of replacement caps over the 3 years - all the others took a Crown Woods 'soiling'.

    Demolished prior to rebuilding, Henry.

I assume you're not planning to go to the 50th anniversary event on the 18th?

My brother went to crown woods i'll have to tell them about that anniversary thingy
  • i know crown woods along with thomas tallis, john roan, plumstead manor and eltham hill schools were all scheduled major rebuilding over the next few years.
rumours are that finances are dictating that either only 2 schools will get the works as planned, or all 5 getting a scaled down version of the original plans.

I was told 6 separate specialist colleges will be built on the site but that might be rubbish.

Crown Woods opened in 1958. You would have left school long before that : - )

We sure did SoundAs. Though at least Crownwoods avoided the demo a bit longer than our old school eh?
  • I went to Crown Woods and it was falling apart when I was there - apparently they're having a school reunion to celebrate it's 50th birthday.

I had a great time there. It was a very good school in those days.

What was wrong with it for you Henry? Were you bullied there too?

Too? No, I wasn't but didn't realise that you were. Explains a lot.

Meet some good people five of whom I still see and had dinner with Sat night but otherwise was a bit of a waste of a great talent (mine)

Why were they so useless at sport then?

I left Westwood in 1971, so maybe he's a bit younger than me :o(

My ex-girlfriend used to go to Elsa Road.

And I found out recently one of our friends in our Cornish village used to live in Westbrook Road, Welling and go to Elsa Road. She'd be about 48 now.

Maybe she was in your class, Tel?

    ;o)
