Well i wonder how many journalists are going to come along and try and interpret anything that is said in this informal chat?

How on earth is ben going to rein it in?

LOL...Nick are you still going by the way...I've got something I wanted you to see that I bought at the recent Rock memorabilia auction and planned to bring it along tonight to show you.

I know its only joking above, but I feel for him he's probably put in a lot of effort to get those names and at the last minute through no fault of his or theirs they have pulled out.

I hope the evening goes well, still lots of interest to bounce between supporters.

    I'll still be going S.

Hayes doesn't get off that lightly.

    Well said Mr Bourne.

I can't make it tonight but should be able to make the one in November. I hope the night goes well.

Cheers Bourne, it is a lot of work for others, not just me, and this the 2nd time Bob and Derek have been forced to pull out.

Not sure how the evening will go. I'm planning to tell everyone everything I know about the takeover.

    which is nothing :- )

Regardless I think many Charlton fans could use the meetup to simply talk to each other, I bet many feel the need to sort of reassure themselves that the proposed takeover is for real..;)

Sure that there will be a few dozen there. Shame as it would have been 100+ if it had gone as planned.

Thanks to the 50 or so people who did turn up.

We had a general chat, I said "I don't know" a lot but there was some interesting debate about the future, Why Charlton and what are the issues to be considered.

Highlight of the night was the raffling of a Cory Gibbs signed shirt. Expect this to turn up at a Sotherby's auction in a few years for £1,000s.

Nearly all the Lifers who were there seemed to be standing at the back by the bar. Not sure what this tells you.

Was good to meet Seriously Red and Petts wood Addick.

    Next meeting

4th November Robbie Elliot and Scott Wagstaff.

Despite the obvious dissapointment of the non appearance of our guests it was a pleasant enough hour or two.
One very interesting debate surrounded how(if the takeover goes ahead), we might in the first instance get ourselves back into The Prem....how might be the best way to proceed in the January window, in other words what calibre and 'sort' of players should we bring in.
Differing opinions were voiced but I myself came up with the notion that we just don't know what sort of money is going to be made available and not just for the transfer fees of course but the wages some of these 'better' players are going to demand.Although to be fair to Ian Wallis (The Chair) he did set a limit on how much we would have to spend in our 'fantasy scenario'....sorry but I can't remember how much that was now.
It could be a throwing a lot of money at it for a quick fix/promotion scenario or a more considered long term approach.
Interesting to see what's wanted/expected....all speculation of course but the reality(well one part of the reality I suppose) of where we are right now will lead many of us to be daydreaming along those lines.....even if it's somewhat premature.
The subject of the holes in the main car park WAS raised but was frustratingly and as usual brushed aside with shamefull disdain and we are STILL no nearer to an amicable solution!
