let's say Ipswich offer us £1M for Darren in January then (assuming terms here/Ipswich are acceptable to him), at the moment, do you think we should:

a) accept the offer and sell him
b) give him a contract for next season
c) let his contract run out and take it from there

    a) £1m is too much money to risk when he could go on a free 4 months later.
  • Offer him a contract if he says no then sell him.

You could give him a new contract but no guarentee he would sign it.
  • No way in the world anyone will offer £1m for Ambrose with 4 months to go on his contract, more likely £250k ish.

I would keep him either way as he is good in this division.

    b) if we are serious about wanting to get back to the Prem players like Ambrose offer that little bit of quality to help us do it.

The trick is to get him to show that quality consistently.

Definately B. Keep him fit & get his confidence up & he's probably one of the top 3 players in our squad.

He may well want to stay now ... if he can.

    Pards on Ambrose:

"Darren Ambrose is totally focused this year and his performance against Ipswich showed that.

"It's strange, but I think there are sides to his game which don't endear him to the fans. I've talked about that with him and we're trying to address that.

"I'm not going to go into details, but I hope the fans see a product on the pitch which is more palatable for them as his technical ability is without question."

    Absolutely B

Even an only half-fit Ambrose last seasom made a huge contribution to the team - despite what so many were saying at the time.

Yet on this thread - just about everybody wants him to stay?

  • Why do some think we could sell him for a million? It's just a dumb made up number. As they could get him for free in May Ipswich would be paying that fee for (effectively) a 5 month loan. I don't believe they have that kind of money.

    B Definitely.

I am not his biggest fan but his quality is without doubt.

He gets more assist than most of the team put together and when he is on song his passing and delivery are superb

MUST work on his fitness though

They would actually get him for free from 1st july, thereby avoiding his wages for two months, but having signed him on a pre cotract in jan.
