Andrew Muir is flying back to Australia at the weekend for a two week break, after which he'll return to the UK.
Just my speculation, but that would mean Muir would have time to hold a press conference tomorrow, if there is an announcement to be made.
It could alternatively mean that he intends to come back in two weeks in time, for the completion of the sale, if the EFL has yet to complete its 'fit and proper persons test'.
After what I heard at my previous meeting, I believe the former is more likely to be the case.
Fingers and fins crossed!
More good news is that Muir and Murphy are very much looking forward to taking a tour of the Charlton Athletic Museum. Something you'd want to do if you were about to buy a football club with a history as rich as Charlton's.
Muir returning to Oz for 2 weeks could mean anything, unless you know more than you're telling.
Just got back from The Valley, got run over by a jag, and then some dirty old man in a cardigan tried to give me the kiss of life...I tried to tell him it was just my foot that got run over, but he wouldn’t listen.

Nope.
You’re absolutely right though. The timing might have been connected to the takeover, or it could have been prearranged. Of course he doesn’t need to be in the UK for the takeover to progress.
Seriously if the Belgian cnut is still in charge next season then that's me finished until he goes. I could not put up with another season of douchbag.
What a disappointing end to the week. I want to apologise if my interpretation of Muir's return to Oz was over optimistic. I did say that it was only my speculation :-(
The third alternative to add to the two possibilities I mentioned yesterday, was that Andrew Muir perhaps always intended to return to Australia this weekend, sale or no sale (as others have said). That was always the case of course, but I should probably have spelled it out.
It's easy to think everything revolves around Charlton, when of course life goes on, no matter what's happening in SE7 or in the offices of the EFL.
But Muir will be back in two weeks, and let's hope the sale of the club will happen well before his return. If it's only awaiting EFL approval, then it really could be any day now, couldn't it?
And the fact that two of the main men involved in the takeover are so keen to visit the Museum is a major positive.
There was a young man from Dover, who wanted news of takeover, so he opened this thread, and found to his dread, puns, and no one in clover. This is not a cue for more Limericks.

He won't be in charge next season.
We just have to continue to be patient. That is all we can do. It has taken a long, long time with more complications than anyone really anticipated, but it will be done and he won't be here this time next month.

Of all the posts on here today . This is the one I hope is true

As we creep close to the one thousandth page, There’s a sure bet I would like to wage, That it’s content won’t be news we all wish, But alas will be more puns about fish
Promote removed, and the dogs are not getting fed this weekend. Be afraid @JamesSeed
You're probably right. Perhaps should keep info to myself in future.
You did fine, you have told us your view on the goings on, and what you had gleaned from your contacts, I am more confident in the take over going through because of you, then I would of been with out your updates.

Info is fine and welcomed. The unfortunate jumping to illogical conclusions, is where you tripped up.
Except that I started the sentence with 'Just my speculation' and my statement was sprinkled with 'ifs'. No one should take speculation as anything more than thinking out loud. I also posted: ' The timing might have been connected to the takeover, or it could have been prearranged. Of course he doesn’t need to be in the UK for the takeover to progress.' And it wasn't illogical, just turned out to be wrong. I also said he might be coming back in time for the an announcement in two weeks. That's probably wrong, but as it's a possibility it's not illogical.
This could of course be a great opportunity to stick the boot in if anyone wants to ;-)

Saw a very nice red Jag parked up. Some flash git got in and drove off, wasn't Murphy or Muir.
No news. There was some weird man in a cardigan giving me evils though as I drove away

Not a dig at your source, just genuine curiousity.
Although I’m not sure how you think a purchase on this scale happens? ‘Shown the money’ to who? Us?
Nobody is going to turn up with a bag of gold sovereigns, climb the statue of Sam Bartram and wave an Australian flag
