Henry Irving

On the 9th June 1905 a group of boys met on East Street, Charlton and decided to form a football team.
They called the team Charlton Athletic and decided that they would play in red and white.

Happy 113th birthday to CAFC.
It is also 113 years since Henry Irving went to that great theatre in the sky.
His first words on stage were
"Here's to our enterprise'
And his last words were,
"I'm Charlton till I die"
Charlton fans took Henry Irving to their heart and in the late 60's could often be heard to chant.
" Henry, Henry Irving huh, huh.
The popular owner Roland Duchatelet often said huh,huh in recognition of Henry Irving's impact on cafc history.
Henry Irving can still be found in the Charlton museum taking centre stage.0 -
Fuck off Parker. Why put that in there?0
