We clutch at straws; we're eager to hear every snippet of information that might throw a pinpoint of light into our darkness and consequently, we're brought back down to earth with a bang when another dead end is inevitably reached. This particular rollercoaster is proving to be seriously damaging to our health.
Today, in between listening to the battle at the Nevill Ground, watching the World Cup and sorting some family stuff, I've become increasingly aware that relationships as well as emotions are being stretched dangerously thin. I guess it was to be expected after such a prolonged period of stress, anxiety and false dawns but it's hit me hard (silly moo!) hence this final post from me tonight.
I've never been ITK but my spirits rose when the Aussie interest was disclosed & my hopes have soared over past weeks following James Seed's account of his lengthy chat with one of their main men. But with nothing being concluded and with time of the essence as a new season approaches, I find myself questioning the validity of their proposed takeover as I'm sure do others.
NLA's information from a completely different source, has now been examined more closely, resulting in utter confusion in the Fanackapan household. And tonight, Matthew, I've had enough.
I'm a pretty straightforward person - what you see is what you get, whether that's palatable or not.
What I find hardest of all to comprehend is the purveying of false information, nay lies ...especially when those on the receiving end are the ones that matter most IMO. Someone, or indeed more than one person appears to have been playing the faithful like a fiddle. And at this moment in time I'm disinclined to believe anyone.
So, before I sign off on this thread for the last time, PLEASE would someone of integrity summarise where we are ( or appear to be) at this moment in time. Do the Aussies have the necessary funds or are they merely being astute? Is there a British consortium primed to step in ? And if so, is RM involved ? Is the "deadline" for a takeover really in the next week ?
Sensible, honest answers to these 4 questions will guarantee a happy Fanny ...and we all know what that means.

We've been wondering why Muir would be having any trouble putting the money together for this. What if HE is the one the EFL disallowed and the rest of the consortium are trying to put the money together to salvage the takeover?
Muir and others have plenty of money, they're not struggling to fund the takeover themselves - they don't want to. The investors have pooled their funds to spread the risk. Buying a 3rd division football club and taking it to the Premiership is a high risk strategy that has a good chance of failing. By getting a consortium in place the potential losses and gains are diluted - reducing the risk. I think Swansea did something similar very successfully and only declined when the consortium sold (though I might be wrong on that bit). They were certainly considered a very well run club for a number of years.
If what we are hearing about two investors being declined by the EFL is true, then I expect a number of conversations in the background are happening re whether the other investors will stump up more cash (and therefore increase their risk exposure), whether they can find new investors to replace the funding, or whether RD will lower the price and therefore reduce the risk to the same levels previously accepted. To do this RD may decide to invest further in Charlton and clear the first charge debts on the assets (£7mil) in order to lease the valley and training ground as a long term revenue stream to compensate for a lower sale price than he finds acceptable. This seems a logical step for both parties if they can't find the right funding and risk exposure, even if it is a truly unpalatable thought for us fans.
