None of the other day/night matches were anything like ours in the final session. Even when teams were having to start their innings late in the day.
Clearly we bowled well, but conditions must also have been really tough at Canterbury for some reason0 -

As our first innings total was acceptable, if anyone should be deducted points it's the ECB for introducing pink Dukes ball cricket to England!Fanny Fanackapan said:

As Max Boyce used to say I was there!
A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon / evening of cricket in convivial company and I also got to meet Paul Downton.
I must say I never thought I'd witness live 'sun stopped play' and the sad thing was from my vantage point high in the Cowdrey stand plenty left the ground at that point and missed Kent's demolition of Middlesex as a result. Until the Middlesex batsmen walked off in a strop because the sun was shining in June they'd not looked in any trouble whatsoever against the Kent bowling.
The Kent players conspicuously remained on the field and eventually after 10-15 minutes the Middlesex batsmen emerged somewhat sheepishly from the pavillion. At that point the Kent bowlers got to work. Podmore from the Nackington Road end and Stewart from the Pavillion End. Haggett relieved Podmore and Thomas relieved Stewart. My view is that the shenanigans of the Middlesex batsmen served as motivation for the Kent bowlers and backfired big time.
The fielding by both sides was top notch. I can only think of one (and that was difficult) chance missed all day which contributed majorly to the low scoring.

Durham v Kent - Durham 91 & 170 Kent 169 & 95-1 Won by 9 wickets
Glamorgan v Kent - Glam 94 & 274 Kent 174 & 195-4 Won by 6 wickets
Kent v Sussex - Kent 215 & 235 Sussex 181 & 211 Won by 58 runs
Gloucs v Kent - Kent 582-9d Gloucs 240 & 322-7(f/o) Drawn
Kent v Warks - Kent 197 & 446-8d Warks 125 & 445 Won by 73 runs
The only outlier was the away game at Gloucestershire when we rattled up almost 600 runs ... and then failed to win the game!
The game plan this years seems to be 'score low first innings, bowl out oppo even lower, win game'.

Batsmen always say that when light is failing it's fine if you are the set batsman as you've been out there and adjusted. But if a wicket falls it can be really difficult as the new man in hasn't had time to let his eyes adjust.2 -
