Fawlty Towers at The Valley

Comedy mirroring life, I mentioned the takeover once, but I think I got away with it.

The owner is a flowery twat.5

I'm only going if the major will be there1

My Mum and Dad went to one of these in Sidcup the other day for Dad's birthday.
They thought it was amazing and I'd say it's the best present we've ever got for him.
Highly recommend
Edit: Although if you're interested maybe see where else they are doing the event. We certainly didn't pay £55 per person!0 -

what other comedic themed nights can we suggest -
The Roland Family - where you sit around and watch Charlton games, on a live feed of course
Dinner Man - featuring Tony Keohane
One Pint of Knat's Piss and Twelve Vol au Vont's Please - with Sue Perks

I'm amazed they got away with that one, they wouldn't allow it pre watershed now!The Red Robin said:The owner is a flowery twat.

Faulty Towers as a tribute act name seems somewhat dubious though, in the aftermath of Grenfell......0

I believe (may be wrong) this is the company that John Cleese has (or had) a case going through the courts against. They have changed one letter in the name whilst blatantly ripping off the concept, story and characters.
As a firm believer that Fawlty Towers is the greatest sit com ever made, I will not be supporting them. Nor will I be financially supporting CAFC until he who must not be named has left.2 -
Who is going to pay 55 quid for that????0
-
What nobbish research have they done to decide this is what is most appealing to their customers demographic?
Does Tony still have a hotline to Katrien, the queen of amazing and money making ideas?
I hear they’re showing Mary Poppins in the pitch the night before the glamour game against Rochdale, that’ll draw the crowds in too....0 -
I have been to see it in the hotel above Charing Cross and thought it was great and very good value. Whilst it is hardly gourmet (it shouldn’t be for Fawlty Towers) remember you get an evening meal plus interactive theatre so it is hardly poor value. Try getting that in London for much less.Callumcafc said:Who is going to pay 55 quid for that????
As I put in the takeover thread, back then you could also get a discount from Groupon and go through topcashback to Groupon so got quite a healthy reduction too.
If you look on Tripadvisor at its ratings it has very very good feedback and the few that gave it poor ratings were almost all tourists who clearly did not know Fawlty Towers and complained the food was chicken and chips and not Jamie Oliver’s quality.0 -
Two sides to every story and interesting to see that before threatening to sue for stealing the Fawlty Towers idea Cleese was encouraging young artists to do exactly that...cantersaddick said:I believe (may be wrong) this is the company that John Cleese has (or had) a case going through the courts against. Looks like they're having trouble selling tickets as the event is now on Groupon.

But who's lying with regard to the original price? It states £80 when it is in fact £55. I know from being in the business that strikethrough prices for hotels on booking sites should be totally ignored but this is blatant misrepresentation. Charlton or Groupon to blame?0 -
Usually costs min £70 per ticket (see link to current Lastminute.com deal: https://experiences.lastminute.com/faulty-towers-the-dining-experience-for-two-2018?acntb=lifestyle&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIso3A5biC3QIVir_tCh2R2gXREAMYASAAEgK0GfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CLec_rm5gt0CFaqgUQoduBENrw )
That deal doesn’t include a bottle of wine either so the Groupon deal at £39, including wine, is brilliant value. I have just booked 2 tickets........and got an extra 10% off the deal using this code: AX6GMW88, saving a further £3.90. Total £74.10 for 2 tickets; show, meals and wine! Can’t wait!0 -

Please, please, please if you want to have the Fawlty Towers experience, go somewhere where it's not going to help fund Goofy Longpockets.meldrew66 said:Usually costs min £70 per ticket (see link to current Lastminute.com deal: https://experiences.lastminute.com/faulty-towers-the-dining-experience-for-two-2018?acntb=lifestyle&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIso3A5biC3QIVir_tCh2R2gXREAMYASAAEgK0GfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CLec_rm5gt0CFaqgUQoduBENrw )

The deal you quoted is at a Radisson hotel in Bloomsbury, therefore I'd expect a better quality meal than you'll get at The Valley. The £55 Valley deal linked in the OP includes a half-bottle of wine.meldrew66 said:Usually costs min £70 per ticket (see link to current Lastminute.com deal: https://experiences.lastminute.com/faulty-towers-the-dining-experience-for-two-2018?acntb=lifestyle&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIso3A5biC3QIVir_tCh2R2gXREAMYASAAEgK0GfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CLec_rm5gt0CFaqgUQoduBENrw )

I'm now annoyed with myself for inadvertently giving publicity to the extent that someone's bought two tickets to an event that puts money into Roland's pocket.0 -
Anyone get any irony here?
The Fawlty Towers concept works on the premise of an inept owner constantly cocking up any decision whilst trying to hide his ineptitude behind a myriad of stupid, pointless and ultimately unsuccessful ruses.
In fact I contend that by putting this night on at The Valley, it makes Basil Fawlty and Co look infinitely better equipped to run CAFC than the Belgian coffin dodger!6 -
Just back from a great dinner/show Faulty Towers at the Valley. Brilliantly acted, very funny and amazing value for money. Go see it if you can!0
