In the mid 70's when Michael Gliksten was the owner we played Port Vale at home in the 3rd tier and from memory I thought there was under 4 thousand.
No social media, just local papers, phones and word of mouth.
Fans stop going when they see no ambition from owners plus we sold players from 65 to 75 that could have held there own in the top tier if we had a decent owner.
Bailey, Bonds, Glover, Campbell, Moore, kenning, Flanagan, Hales plus others coming into an established side.

I can assure younger fans we have been here before, the difference is we've a decent stadium now not a crumbling wreak of a ground.

IF we can only see the back of this flawed experiment then Adults can make their own minds up whether to invest their time, money and emotions in Cafc.

I think our lowest valley attendance back then was little more than 3k v Halifax on a Tuesday evening.

I got Stanleyed as I was close to leaving the top of Marion Wilson park. Don't know who attacked me but they weren't at the match. I guess millwall.

I never for once thought about not going again even though my artery was very close to being severed. Just shows that Roland is more destructive than a bunch of thugs with knives.

Apathy is a strong force and we shouldn't underestimate it.
I think maybe the Halifax game and not Port Vale was the match that I was trying to remember from over 40 years ago !
I can recall the Spartan isolation of that match.
Derek Hales scored a Hat-trick against Halifax on a snow covered pitch in a 3-1 win on 18th March 1975,a gate of 3001 must be the game your referring to,i was also there.
ATTENDED BOTH GAMES 3001 attendance was amended up to 3015 in colins book game played 6th march 73
  • i was there it was pissing down all day and at the game-----wonder how long before we reach yhose numbers on a regular basis
  • I too was at that game. If everybody had taken a cat they could have all swung it around without hitting anyone.
  • Hate to put a bummer on things, but the general lighting at The Valley operates on movement sensors and has for some time. So lights will be off unless someone is moving about and hey presto, they come on.

    Very sensible and very green.

  • And I went to the Killer Hattrick 3-1 win. Though it was one of the bigger crowds I'd been in.
  • I didn't go to this game , but my cat did .

Your cat has attended more games than Roland has.

Just for the record happyvalley the term......”Not enough room to swing a cat” does not refer to cats at all.
It in fact refers to ‘the cat of nine tails’.......as used by The Royal Navy for punishment purposes.
So, nothing whatever to do with Moggies.

Not necessarily - if they are phorescent tubes they are more efficient left on (I believe) as the power needed to fire them up negates any saving of having them switch off and then on again...

Don't even think I'll bother to knock one out when it's finally done now.

Fine if that's earned me a flag maybe I will still.

That's the one(the one with snow, whatever the score or year). Lowest league attendance at the valley I believe......until this coming season.

  • I like this lights stuff.
My car's got adaptive headlights so surely it would be quite easy to have adaptive floodlights at the ground?
Only light up the bit of the pitch where there's any activity. Although I suppose the opposition goalkeeper might get a bit hacked off being in total darkness all match.

The keeper can move around and make himself busy , maybe do what dazzlers possibly gonna do once the takeover happens

  • Done deal according to this.

+ I didn't know Roland had such a close association with the Japanese porn industry.

Just seen an above similar joke so I will edit and say this instead:

    This.
  • So from that article he is raising 80m capital in his Stayen company? why?
  • To cover losses and allow future investment.

It say he recently sold Charlton.

Bloody hell, he's losing money left, right and centre - not his fault though I expect.

The same site reported he sold Charlton on 21st June, which we know isn't true.

He'd have to take his gloves off though wouldn't he? Hey there's another cost cutting measure right there - don't buy gloves for the keeper. Totally unnecessary.

    Interesting haircut
Good spot! It looks like someone has carefully placed a perfectly formed turd on his head!
  • surely if he is making plans to spunk more money the deal must be very close? or is he a total twat?
