  • It might be wise to now consider the merits of forming AFC Charlton. Perhaps the Trust could put it on the next meeting agenda?
  • Ill wait for NLA to comment
  • Don’t be a dick Rich. Walk away when Roly goes. Please.
  • I promise 100$% it's gonna happen today...ish.
  • Any chance @JamesSeed can pester GM, this is getting silly now.

    Why?
  • Maybe if it's not done by COP tonight...

  • If I did he'd probably send Skippy round to beat me up.

I have no inside info but my guess is that the Aussies are holding up the deal and who can blame them. RD must want rid, he’s losing money month by month and will struggle to get another offer anywhere near this one. The Aussies hold all the aces IMO
As for the delay causing the Aussies grief, I believe @JamesSeed previously mentioned that GM told him that they weren’t bothered as they are in for the long haul

If they hold all the aces then they are playing a very bad hand imo. Season starts in 5 days time & transfer window shuts in 10 days time. Roland is selling players for peanuts & as it stands our front line on Saturday will be a player loaned out last season & the other a youngster who hasn't scored a league goal in his career. If they are playing "the long game" then someone had better tell them that it has taken us 3 years (and counting) to get out of this league.......it will take a damn sight longer than 5 to even get into the Championship from league 2.

As I said last week, I don't who is worse.......Roland or the Aussies.
Well, let me help. One has fucked up the club for four years and the others bought a scarf in the shop.
@Airman Brown You’ve been pretty quiet over the last few weeks. I’m pretty sure you’ve heard things that are going on in the background. Any chance you can chuck us a bone to chew on until the next instalment if this saga?
Nothing to add on the Aussies but there is new interest from elsewhere.
Yes, and you wonder if the Aussies haven't accidentally done a lot of the legal work for them?
And one thing about the Aussies is that theirs is a plan based on sporting interest, it remains to be seen what the new bidders are after.
Woooooow! What's the matter, JS? Thread getting to you?
Too bloody right it is ;-)

To be honest, if anyone buys us, and they have the right motives and a decent amount of money, I’ll be as happy as a fish.
    What type of fish?

Just something to think about whilst waiting for this bloody takeover ;o)
  • The odds on us to go down on Betfair have increased, from 17.0 to 19.0.

    Reasons to be cheerful
  • Paddy Power rate us as the least likely away win in League One.

Probably because we will have closed

Can’t see why anyone would take up such a seedy, grubby pastime. Plays havoc with your paintwork too....oh wait.....sorry, thought you said something else....

Might look at the odds for this one. Sunderland have signed 18 players and lost a something like 16 I think I read ?

A lot of signings from Scotland too. I’m not convinced that they will hit the ground running. Tough place with decent crowd but I would imagine that they might soon get on the players backs if it isn’t going well.

    1 - 2

  • IF it is Murray holding up the takeover then what on earth is wrong with that man?

I would NOT AT ALL be surprised is his holdup is he is demanding a formal role with the club under new ownership and he is pouting and holding it up as a strategy to get that.

He is 68. Has had cancer. Is Chairman of a prestigious company. I would guess he wants a non-exec role that keeps his seat at the table and access to the perks that go with that - cannot see him leading the club or a rival consortium - but who knows...

How can he do that? He doesn’t even own 1% of the club.

    Good enough for Jehovah
  • Just dipping back into the lights off at meetings fiasco (I suspect many pages back now)..........and related to that revelation............

I was walking past the Valley with a heavy heart on Friday (sometime around 4pm when the sky became overcast in advance of the eclipse) when I glanced through the (exit) door into the deserted and closed shop. Sure enough, it was closed alright, no sign of staff and no lights on - gloomy and dim in the interior.

A few paces on and I was passing the main entrance door when a Post Office van drew up and the postie waltzed straight in! So it was open after all.

Just saying - no apparent sign of life but still going through the motions even whilst hamstrung presumably by a no-lights on policy.

Wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry.

Why can't he just realise he's not wanted anywhere near Charlton?
Maybe because not everyone shares your view of him.
  • Any second now...
