I'm so bored of this takeover saga that I've now bought myself a season ticket. Fuck losing another season to to waiting, boycotting was always shit on Saturdays and I'd rather be at The Valley.
I look forward to when the protests start up. COYR
Serious question - do you really think anyone will protest?
RD thinks himself a smart businessman but rather than cut academy refreshments, why doesn't he take a leaf out of the spiv's book and cash-in the sell-on clauses of Pope, Gomez and Lookman?

Who says he hasn't?
One of the hacks reported this week that Lookman's was in place. I'd give more credence to his transfer being the hold up rather than funding.

The size of the protests and appetite to do so was generally linked to the performances on the pitch. If we have a bad start - as could be very likely - then I suspect the mob will gather. If we have a barn stormer then the mob will throw verbals the other way.

Click on it to read it. Basically says Keith Harris has been trying to find new investors so the takeover can go through, and that it’s unclear if that’s happened. If it hasn’t happened it says it’s in danger of collapsing.

Ah, so this is the famous ‘waving of the willy’ that I’ve heard so much about ;-)
seems to be what the SLP are indicating @JamesSeed i think theres been so much dragging of heels that people interested have said i am off
Fair play if you turned out to be right all along. As I’ve said I’ve only had very little info since the beer meeting, and none of that was financial. Of course we still don’t know definitively what’s going on, but I guess we’ll hear soon. If they’ve failed it’s a damned shame, because I think they had the potential to give us ‘proper’ ownership for the first time in years.
I think anyone has the potential to give us 'proper' ownership but let's face initially it at the time of takeover we thought the same about RD and the spivs!
The difference here being that no one knew them personally did they? (As far as I know). I wouldn’t have said those things if I didn’t know GM, who I know for a fact isn’t/wasn’t trying to make a land grab, at least.
Apologies I didnt know you personally knew GM I thought your insight / opinion came from one of the lackey's who worked for him. Not withstanding that, in my opinion, and bar telling people snippets of what they want to hear, SomeoSomeone would have to know someone extremely well to share detailed information about their business plans especially parts that they might not want out in the public domain!
They didn’t share any details about their business plans, other than that it was a five year plan.

No criticism of @JamesSeed, you are entitled to believe who you want. but there is one thing i dont get - you have found confidence in the fact GM told you he has spent 2 years and 2 Million quid on due diligence. given the failure to complete, why does this inspire confidence? it inspires precisely the opposite in me - namely that he is lying or that he is incompetent. seems to be no other logical option.

That can't be right, we were told they definitely had the funds, despite several well-placed people saying it wasn't true.
Someone was being spun a line and fell for it hook, line and sinker.
Another depressing season starts tomorrow, what a time to be alive.
2 months ago when the Aussies were scarfed up in the Directors box they clearly had the money within the consortium and 1905 was happy that he would renew and would potentially have a decent season to look forward to.
Then the "Charlton affect" steamed in and here we are. Maybe Mark Hulyer can organise another rubber shipment to fill the financial gap? Maybe Zabeel will dust off their old DD? Maybe Sunley will build us a new stand? Maybe the lovely Glikstein family will find some old mouldies down the sofa and give us more depression. Maybe we can throw money in a bucket and buy another striker? Maybe we could play on Friday nights to bolster the crowd and use the carpark for a market on Saturday? Maybe we can share with those c***s again to keep the club alive?
In short, apart from the recent premiership years, common sense or luck never touches this club. It takes something different to be a Charlton fan. But one day it must change, but its the hope ..............
These days we could get an electronic Ronnie Moore certificate and help save the planet at the same time.
Personally, think there is every reason to protest at the first home game assuming no sale by then - don't believe a boycott is the right protest though. I'm not on the TB or CARD however.

Hard to say. When rumours appeared on CL about this in the past they were always incorrect, but this feels different somehow. But I texted earlier, and if it was definitely off I think I would have heard by now, but who knows. I have a theory that this delay is linked to the transfer window being open, but could well be wrong.

Why, do you think RD is trying to buy some big names (no, I don't mean long names), and go for promotion

It's looking more and more like Roland, having been given a choice of a number of consortia from whom to choose, each submitting an acceptable bid, has chosen the wrong one. Assuming his spokespeople have been telling the truth when they claimed that there were a number of acceptable bids.
So it's either a case of him lying to the fans (again) or making a terrible, costly decision (again).

One million. And there are other logical options.
Appreciate the response.
What do you think those other options may be ?
I really respect the contributions you have made to this thread and I doff my cap in the way you have shared. I don't share your enthusiasm but don't take it personally.
I received some info myself this week from Auz that makes me doubt this is gonna be salvaged. Nothing concrete and not claiming ITK particularly but the person who told me does have some links to the consortium directly.
