I read it as though Bowyer stated he was offered a new contract when he was in fact offered a contract extension, probably at existing terms and he's basically telling
the CEOthe unknown person who's handling these issues where to go.
I also believe it's a dig at the club's ownership and upper management, or lack thereof, and he could change his attitude if new owners came in. If, of course, he's still here.5 -
i know we all think a lot of these players are holier than thou, but this guy isnt unreal the only shit thing is we have no chance of a realistic replacement as this stage cheers pal0
-
Not really, but how many of us have said. F*** this I'm not working here no more and left a job. I know I have, that's all he's doing. Tough few days is Roland selling off Bauer, Aribo and anyone else he can before takeover goes through? Australian’s then bring in free transfers and loans to get by until January?
No, probably that’s too positive and unrealistic.6 -
Really hope that Pearce isnt injured now else christ knows who is playing @ Centre-Back with Sarr on Saturday if Bauer does go2
-
What was that ?ForeverAddickted said:
Nope... I just hope he's fed up being under Roland and that if we can keep him till a takeover is completed (LOL!) then he'll maybe consider a new deal under our new owners - Really sounds like a come and get me plea though and explains he lack of performance Saturday as didnt seem on top of his game I must admitcafc4life said:Can anyone blame him?
Oh well... We're getting a new Defender (to replace Bauer) and a new Midfielder (to replace Aribo or JFC), so we'll only sign the one Goalkeeper that'll actually ADD to the squad before the window closes on Thursday
Certainly tallies up with what Ajose apparently said on the train home!!0 -
Quite possible to read it that way.Bangkokaddick said:I read it as though Bowyer stated he was offered a new contract when he was in fact offered a contract extension, probably at existing terms and he's basically telling

What did you do!?se9addick said:I spoke to Bauer on a train on Saturday, by Monday lunchtime he announces he won’t sign a new contract with the club...
Tbh he was pretty quiet on the train back, but maybe he always is.
I'm sure if he leaves Roland will sign a magnificent replacement.1 -
Roland already tried to flog him last week. Clubs out there will be willing to take a punt on him this week, which leaves us with Naby Sarr as the only fit centre back.1

cant blame him at all. Thanks for the hard work patrick.
What a clusterfuck and a joke we've become.7 -
Someone tweeted a conversation with Ajose who said that he (Nicky) wasnt planning on leaving yet that others werecharltonbob said:

Agreed. I reckon RD has withdrawn the new contract offer in line with the other players.Henry Irving said:
Maybe LB was told that the club was going to offer him a new deal and then they didn't.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Last week Bowyer said:

Now the man himself says he hasn't been offered anything.
So someone is lying?
The club withdrew offers made to Fosu and Aribo and my guess is that as part of the cost cutting they have now decided not to make an increased offer to Bauer.
Interesting that he has chosen to make this public. Clearly that is for a reason.
Maybe he is being pushed to take a transfer, maybe he's just fed up with working for such a badly run and lead organisation.
Therefore, Bauer would be justified in saying he hasn't been offered a new contract, if it's no longer available.
We were told 2 weeks of pain weren't we ?1 -
sold by 5pm Thursday as RD will want a fee, any fee1
-
I'm reading it as Bauer wants a better contract, so won't renew the current one.
RD not offering a better one, but new owners might. So might a Championship club :-(3 -
And it will only get worse...0
-
dont blame him but 3 days before window closes he has devalued his price as clubs know he doesnt want to be here and the owner would sell his mother for 10p. yes he is a loss but i personally dont think he is irreplaceable maybe at this stage of time he is.T_C_E said:

In this context, Bowyer's positivity and message that we're aiming for promotion is starting to sound very hollow.
Can understand why he wants to be making the right noises, but he's going to be looking out of touch with reality if there are a couple of more sales this week.3 -
Bauer sold by 5PM Thursday with, maybe, Aribo and Ajose - anyone he can get a cash deal on. Club changes hands on Friday 10th. New owners have until the end of August to sign 'the unattached' and loans... think that's the best we can hope for.2
-
Hopefully he’ll be asked why his player has seemingly contradicted him in this Thursday’s press conference.AllLeftFoot said:In this context, Bowyer's positivity and message that we're aiming for promotion is starting to sound very hollow.

i see bowyers comments since he took over as a fella who's extremely calm and collective on top but peddling like absolute mad underneath. I can gurantee that especially as a man who wanted nothing to do with football anymore up until a couple of years ago he wont be happy with this.AllLeftFoot said:In this context, Bowyer's positivity and message that we're aiming for promotion is starting to sound very hollow.

Like he said in his tweets he isn't happy with a contract extension, meaning he doesn't want to add another year or 2 on the same current terms.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Last week Bowyer said:

To me it sounds like he wants a better deal, not that he's refusing one.
I can't blame him for not wanting a contract extension, the current deal he has is probably based on the same bullshit promise of promotion we get every year.1 -
To be fair to Bowyer, he si on;ly just repeating what he has been told by Roland and Murray.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Last week Bowyer said:

If they don;t actually do it or alter the truth its not Lee's fault2 -
If that's the case with Bowyer it's extremely disappointing and he's no better than the other RD puppets we've had.kentaddick said:

Bauer knows the score. He's lived and breathed the mediocrity for the past 3 years. This is the thinnest and weakest squad we've had in that time and without any knee-jerk reactions, staying in the league should be our only focus this season.0 -
Beyond 'beyond parody'.8

Bauer is decent but it's not as if he's irreplaceable .. I should thing that (e.g.) Ward would do a good job at central defence, there are always experienced big ol boys around looking for a club (if we pay the wages of course) and who knows, Sarr might suddenly bloom and blossom, he might even become a decent defender8
-
Remember he was signed in the Championship. I suspect that in L1 we couldn't afford an increase.JoshrewCAFC said:

Just more of the same I'm afraid, better get used to it.mistrollingin said:Well, that's Monday's dose of Charlton shit out of the way, I wonder what Tuesday will bring?

I have heard that Roland has reneged on an agreement to supply electricity and water to Bauer's family home as part of the general cost cutting measures now in place.2
-
Roland won't replace him. We're already short on centre-backs so signing an injury prone Ward isn't got to make any difference.Lincsaddick said:Bauer is decent but it's not as if he's irreplaceable ..
