this is depressing. Baby Bent is a Charlton player, he loves playing for us but i suppose he has said all along he didnt want to go but if the club needed the money then he would.

Be very sorry to see him go... ESPECIALY IF HE GOES TO SPURS I WOULDNT BE ABLE TO STAND IT!!

I can't see this report on Sky website, so let's hold fire - its gonna be a long few weeks, so lets keep our cool.

yea,he says "due to the injury,we've had to re assess the situation and if/when the right offer is made,we will accept now instead of waiting till the summer".Sounds like even if we stay up he was a gonner in the summer anyway.

we have to be realistic. We need to almost build a whole new first team, yet we haven't got the funds, and our income is likely to be dramatically reduced next season.

The worry will be if we do hit any financial trouble, because Bent realistically is our ONLY saleable asset.

  • Good Business and that is what football is all about now. Good Luck to Bent!

How about t-shirts saying " I saw Bent score F**king loads and he didnt even get a World Cup place"

Chris from Sidcup - exactly my point, Benty is better than a top six/seven side. He should be aiming higher.

BTW, it's on Sky's website now, Pards quotes 'n all.

Will be very sad to see him go, but at least not same circumstance as Parker. He's a lovely kid - as long as we get in replacements with as positive an attitude...as well as goalscoring ability. (Don't want much, do I?)

agreed, benty is a top kid
  • Top four only or I will be gutted! The small team from fulham might put in a bid?

The sad fact of the matter when we finally get a good striker we have ended up having our two worst seasons since being back in the Prem.

Bent is a talisman and it will be depressing to lose him.

However being pragmatic we know we are likely to get relegated and the best chance to come straight back up is to start rebuilding now so we can hit the ground running and replace any mistakes in the summer rather than next Jan. I am not being defeatist because getting in some new players now gives us a fighting chance this season too.

All I pray is that we do not sell him for less than Fulham got for Saha.

Youre gonna be buggered if he goes to Newcastle mate..... It'll cost you loads to keep driving up there and follow him around

Would not want him to go to Newcastle - they nick all our best players! And wouldn't do his England chances much good.

under no circumstances can we sell him to Spurs or West Ham !!!.

Personally I think Liverpool would be his best move, especially if they get shot of Crouch.
