Sorry to learn yesterday of the death on July 31st of former Charlton centre-forward Bobby Ayre, aged 86. Played 115 games for #cafc in the 1950s, scoring 54 goals, most of his games coming in the top flight.

England Under 23 international whilst at Charlton and, I believe, played for my Scottish side Berwick Rangers as well as Charlton Athletic.

Wonderful partnership between Bobby Ayer, Ronnie White and I think Stuart Leary, seems like yesterday. I am sure he gained more than one England caps at under 21 level.0
