Once a bastion, or so I thought, of the upper class. I was amazed to hear how many people I know actually have a cleaner come to their homes once a week!
And the people I know certainly ain't upper class!!

Times they are a changing.
So come on, which of you toffee nosed, plum mouthed aristocrats are actually getting someone round to do your dirty work?

    One of my staff has one, every Wednesday he has to leave on time to do a pre cleaner clean!!

    Not me - I've suggested it to my missus in the past but she's always said she wouldn't want anyone else clearing up my mess!! I voted remain.

    But my eldest has a cleaner - and he voted remain also!

    We had one until recently. Was handy but we had to spend the evening before they came tidying up which was a pain.

    Will probably use one again when our building work’s finished.

    Have had in the past, but none have done it to my exacting standards and I enjoy doing the cleaning tbh. I'm a bit if a aficionado when it comes to cleaning products

    yes we do.

    An interesting question would be how much an hour do people pay for their cleaners?

    We pay two people who are each there for 1.5hrs a total of £50. That equates to £16.67ph each. Cash in hand. Extortionate in my opinion. However, we inherited them when the mother in law moved in and she won't get rid of them. Other people I know pay roughly £12/£14 ph.

    I think more important a question would be 'who pays their cleaner a decent living wage?' If you don't, but shout about unfairness from the rooftops, then maybe you need to ask yourself why not.

    Yes. Had one for the last 3 years or so after my wife insisted that we got one. Wouldn't not have one now.
    Its great to come home on a Thursday night to a sparkling clean house and don't have to spend our evenings and weekends cleaning, so we get quality time together as a family at weekends.
    (And no, we don't have to do a pre-cleaner clean either!)

    Used too, but she died a few years ago. Was a close family friend so did it to help out , i still occasionally will get my sister round for a proper good clean as sometimes my skin is bad and needs to be done thoroughly.

    Just moved into my first place on my own, actually find cleaning/tidying quite relaxing tbh. I'm only 1 month in though and i'm sure that'll fade and i'll be back to living in squalor like at Uni!

    Good job I'm a champion of zero hours contracts and think the minimum wage is a load of baloney - my cleaner was on £2 an hour and told to piss off halfway through a 2 hour shift and I think she should be happy with the 2 quid I threw at her, in copper....

    If only, I do it, my Mrs does all the cooking and I do the housework, I generally dress like Freddie Mercury in the video of 'I want to Break Free' when I'm cleaning (it works for me).
    BUT my dog is in her 14th year and a bit frail, her medication and specialist food costs us £300 a month, so when she goes, in comes the cleaner, clouds and silver linings etc etc.

    My son pays his cleaner £15ph (Stoke) and I pay my gardener the same (south Cheshire) - seems the going rate.

    When my sister cleans will give her £30 for roughly 2 hours, ages ago stopped her coming because thought a bit OTT when she could probably do in 1hour or so but she does a very good job. To make clear i live in an annix off the main house so its like a small flat she has to clean, not amazing messy but because of my eczema it gets a bit dusty (skin)

    Jokes aside, I think £15 an hour is about the going rate tbh. Cleaner / gardeners get about €17 to €18 an hour her as far as I know

    In lo don it’s closer to £12 an hour but they damn sure don’t clean for the hours you pay them (3 hours a week in my case)
