I don't really care what the known / hidden agendas were, at the end of the day he is contracted, and paid, to play football.

You play for your team mates, you play for your manager, you play for the supporters and you play for your own professional pride.

Pulling out of a game just two hours before kick off is poor form in the extreme, it shows that the only factor you take into consideration is your own. When you compare the amount of players that play through injuries or have pain killing injections to get through games, it emphasises what a selfish move it was. He is only likely to attract interest from other lower league clubs, so the cup tied angle is a bit of farce as there will be very few left come the 4th round.

Proves to me that he is currently Charlton's third choice keeper for not just footballing abilities.
