Love it Mike, great idea. What time do you throw people out?Riviera said:
We have a ballot, we limit to 60 people. Have a buffet and a Disco, clear lots of furniture and turn the Dorchester Room into a dancefloor. Shutters down.PopIcon said:
How does this work? Is it a private closed/ticketed party or do you have a TEN?Riviera said:Party in my pub, limited numbers and all regulars. Did it last year for the first time and it was brilliant.

Fortunately we don't have any of those.Alwaysneil said:Is it one of those ballots where everyone goes in but if some of the less likeable locals get drawn, they go back in again?
It's all done fair and square, there were only a few who didn't get drawn but then we had withdrawals and were able to offer those on etc. It's still a new thing and we didn't publicize it externally or on social media etc0 -
Having to work it in my cocktail bar, open til 3am, won't finish til 7am, home for a couple of hours kip then up for the footy1

Which fox, the lewisham one? I used to work there in the mid to late 2000’s (when it was good).iainment said:Cinema tonight to see The Favourite.
Might pop into the Fox on the way home but more likely straight home a bit of telly and to bed after the New Year comes in.
NYE not really a big thing to me.
I’m not sure if I’ll wander up to Hilly Fields or watch the fireworks on the telly instead, either way it’ll be a quiet one for me as I’m not really into all the NYE hoo-ha.0 - Sponsored links:

In New Orleans, Booker a place with an open bar & table service for tonight which has a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street, can’t wait!4

It's 10pm and I'm at home making jam.

Going 100 Wardour Street for a meal and then they’ve got live Cuban music. Not gonna lie I wish I was staying in.5

In a sound proofed room listening to whale and dolphin music, sitting in the lotus position whilst wearing my Clive Mendonca T-Shirt and contemplating how measurement is the mystery in quantum physics and the particle and wave debate is as esoteric now as 100 years ago despite the Higgs boson experiments at CERN near Geneva.2

Nothing. Gone down with the lurgi. Was going to be a night in anyway, comforting the dog, who gets alarmed by fireworks, but now I can't drink. Honestly cannot remember when I last had a dry NYE. Could very easily be 40 years.
Massively pissed off, and for some reason I blame Roland, rather than Brexit.0 -
Going out in about half an hour (Old Town pub crawl), starting early so may or may not stay out till past midnight, we did last year getting home at 4am....shall see how it goes. Anyway wishing you all a happy new year.0

We are in Cornwall so heading over to Looe this evening to meet friends and join in the street party and watch the fireworks.0

From Australia on holiday happy New year All.
WE ARE CHARLTON SUPER CHARLTON.10 -
It's a people's vote, you mean?Alwaysneil said:Is it one of those ballots where everyone goes in but if some of the less likeable locals get drawn, they go back in again?
What?0 -
Pop down into Looe with my partner for a pint then pick up takeaway curry, back to the house, bottle of beer with curry, bottle of cheap n cheerful prosecco and struggle to stay awake til midnight.0

Sat at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, watching the stars with the missus, hopefully the Yanks staying here will have all gone into town leaving us on our Joneses for a change...2

Top notch in 100 wardour street. Never had a bad night in there.ValleyGary said:Going 100 Wardour Street for a meal and then they’ve got live Cuban music. Not gonna lie I wish I was staying in.

First time we will have done anything on NYE since 2002. Normally get woken up by the fireworks but this year have friends coming over, so drinks starting soon.0
-
Not fussed, maybe go up my legion club, amateurs night when all the dickheads come out and insist they get a table when they’ve not been in since last year, may even stay in, get a ruby and watch the fireworks in HD, have to admit I like the smug feeling of being hangover free on New Years Day1
-
Dinner party for 10 chez Davo. Have been helping prepare everything pretty much non-stop since 8.30 this morning but it’ll be worth it.
Have a good one, whatever you’re doing, and wishing all of you a very happy and healthy 2019.3 -
Round the sister in laws about 100 yards away, few family, booze, games, hot tub then fireworks.
Not a NYE fan, as said above, amateur drinkers night, certainly wouldn’t be going ‘out’ anywhere.
happy new year all0 -
Lovin the Hot Tub action! thought it was just an Essex thing?0
-
Particularly the hot tub with the family....1

Both us and the sister in law have one, we absolutely love it in our garden!, one of the best things we ever bought0
