They reckon they can build it around the current ground then finish it off during the close season??

    Don't make me laugh!
  • Here's their plan

Season 1 = White Lart Lane full capacity and start building of new ground
Season 2 = Play at White Hart Lane with an empty north end, reducing capacity to less than 30,000?
Season 3 = Play at the New Ground but only 3/4 full as the construction of south/east corner still to be complete, capacity around 50,000
Season 4 = Play at the New Ground with full capacity of 60,000

It can be done, the millennium stadium was a harder task.

    75,038 spectators watch
    the visit of Sunderland in
the sixth round of the FA
    Cup, a Club record which
    still stands today.

Bastards! Our Valley attendance record is 75.031 ......... surely Spuds couldn't have topped our record?

    ;o)

I take it you read the part that says the image of the stadium was just a representative image to show where the location of the stadium in relation to WHL but was not representative of how the stadium if and when completed would look? Thought not ;o)
  • It's going to be an identikit stadium and you know it!

The fans are desperate for the new stadium not to be a bowl of any kind. The preferred option is a ground similar in design to what was going to be the New Anfield. I think everyone's worry is that by going for the bowl design, the ground will be devoid of any atmosphere whatsoever.

(...cue the jokes of "there's no atmosphere at WHL anyway" etc)

The atmosphere in WHL is massive these days and its something the fans and the club want to avoid...

...but it probably will be an identikit of the Emirates....
  • That's what everyone wants JohnBoyUK but it will costs too much, a bowl design is a hell of a lot cheaper.

In Germany they build brand new stadiums with 4 stands (which are bigger than Colchester's new ground...) and have safe standing...
