He caused his own long term absence from management.
I can understand at first holding out for a PL job, but as time passed he should have took a championship role.
Amyone who’s lost their job will tell you at first you look for a similar role/position. But if that’s not happening you sometimes need to go lower and work your way back up.
Sadly after 10 years out the world has moved on. I doubt he’ll ever manage again which is a real shame. From the fringes of being England manager to career over.2 -
They might drop him soon......the longer it goes on he'll get less & less relevant.QatarNapsy said:Yes, he shows up on Bein sport semi-regularly as studio guest/pundit.

Maybe he should try the BBC. Being irrelevant for years hasn't stopped Mark Lawrenson!golfaddick said:

Loved that, thanks for the heads up. Itching to hear the rest of it now! I think we should only employ managers from Canning Town.Fortune 82nd Minute said:If you missed it, listen again here.

I have a feeling he will be back with us in some capacity before too long.0 -
What a strange unnecessary comment?golfaddick said:

Random bump of a thread...
Curbs is this weeks guest on Ramble Meets, part of the Football Ramble podcast
Search Football Ramble Daily wherever you get your podcasts and you’ll see the latest episode (today) is a 50 minute chat with Alan.2 -
I think because it's now old it might have got deleted. Shame that the 2nd part of that interview is no longer available.
He did deserve a premier League job after leaving west ham but I guess for one reason or another, it didn't happen and that's that.
Football is very in and out these days. Player power exists a lot more now too.
I think curbs is very particular about what will make things successful.
He knows he can't just take a job like Sunderland...as he and his team would probably be out the door after 8months.
He wants garuntees and he has every right to.1
