1979 matches the other fashions and we also didn't play Posh after than until the 1990s
You are actually wrong. This was a pre season friendly after 1979 and the boys in the picture had all been drinking in the Green Man Welling .I know because I met up with them later in the day .

Yeah, Plymouth away was the first time that I remember. They marched in formation from the station up the hill to the football ground, white coats and bowler hats. On the way back, loads of Argyle on the road footbridge by the station bombing them from above with bricks and bottles.

Think it was 1979 as a lot of Cafc bunked the fares back to London where Arsenal were having it with Liverpool after the charity shield we were going after the scousers. Alot of us were nicked outside Euston station by the spg.Only reason I say 79 is cause I went to court and was told get a career by the next time you are in front of me or go to Dc. I joined the Army the following year. Not glorifying It I was young but some good lads I still see occasionally now some 37 years on. Good times supporting a Club I loved then as I do now. I remember the Clockwork Orange game vividly. I am not sure it it was the first occasion but it was certainly done away to Plymouth.
The week leading up to the game, myself and two friends decided to acquire a Bowler Hat each to look like real Clockwork Orange “Droogies”
Money being tight as it was in those days we went up to the City of London with the intention of stealing them from City gents wearing them in the City.
We spotted one bowler being worn near the Bank underground station. We tailed the target for a couple of hundred yards then my friend ran up to him grabbed the bowler hat from his head and we ran off along Cheapside.
We got clean away but the man was screaming his head off, so we laid low and got the 21 bus back to Eltham, with only 1 Bowler hat between us.
For the actual game I remember the Colharbour estate, Mottingham, and Middle Park guys all met up at Mottingham Station and we all travelled to Plymouth together.
As for the actual game it was definitely Plymouth Argyle. Because it is the only time I have visited Plymouth for football. Charlton lost 5-0.
We had a fight in a park (think it was Home Park) as we walked back to the station.
I remember Police were on the train back to London and we finally arrived back home well after midnight.
