You have to question why there wasnt a man on the post0

The best thing about it is that everyone has been saying Naby should take free kicks and smash it. But it wasn't a smash. It was placed and curved. Beautiful.18

Nobody defends like that anymore.0

I was talking with my son last week about Reeves taking free kicks. We both agreed that Sarr ought to be taking them based on his sweet left foot. But ultimately, it would be impossible to take a worse free-kicks than Reeves even if Sarr wasn't great at them, so why haven't we tried him earlier?0

When I filmed this, I genuinely didn't realise it had hit the back of the net which is why I didn't get the celebrations! Absolute blew me awayDazzler21 said:8 -

Watching him morph into nu-era Kermorgant has been beautiful tbh7

Thry probably had seen that this srason we have not hit the target from free kicks, so why bother putting player on postForeverAddickted said:You have to question why there wasnt a man on the post3 -

Valid question and valid answer BUT,JoshAddick said:

One example when it would've been better having tall defenders on the post even with attackers in the box.
From memory, Wales got a free kick against a minnow in the qualifications of the Euros.
(Malta ?) 5 minutes left and the game was 0-0 because of parking two buses in defence. Gareth Bale was on the ball and I said at the time he was going to score in the unguarded side. He did.
I feel it Would of been harder for Bale to score if there had been more bodies on the line. I accept there can be a pin ball effect but the very best free kick takers love to see the unguarded net.
This idea does make it harder for keepers because of the number of players in the box BUT in the above example would have been the best option.0 -
Drop back from the wall as the free kick is about to be taken to cover the post. Not ideal, but stops the attacking side getting behind the wall.1

Was there something Christian Ronaldo about that kick? Seemed to put top spin on it.0

Not trying to take anything away from Nabster but I think you have to question the keeper. It was a good freekick but it was a little inside the post and a saveable height, yet he was completely rooted to the spot. He appeared to set the wall to protect his left hand post but then stood to the left side as well giving Naby a big target.
Still got got to hit it though.1 -
My favourite bit is when the camera is turned on the home fans.Dazzler21 said:2 -
I would imagine they were not expecting Sarr to take it, and the keeper probably wasn't sure whether he was right or left footed! The wall seemed positioned for a right footer.1
