Does this mean lying to protect the liars feeling of awkwardness?
If we (all of us as a human race) were to develop or work on our skills of empathy, would there not be a way of avoiding lying in the circumstances of the dictionary definition?

My father in law had dementia and forgot his wife had passed away. When he asked us where she was, we told him she was out shopping. Had we told him the truth, he would have felt the grief like he had just heard it, multiple times a day. When there is a choice of white lie or emotional cruelty, it is quite an easy decision.

No to all apart from White Lies, if told to spare someone's feelings they can be a good thing.
