So come on - who put money on Parky when he was 7/1 on Sunday/Monday?

But he should have walked for the poor coaching alone. Every player has gone backwards under the regime. We have scored very few goals from open play and the amount of goals we have conceded from set pieces is criminal. That is all down to coaching, and he was the coach.

    ---------------------

Good argument hugely undermined by the fact that he was assistant manager rather than coach![/quote]

And the first team coach was??????
Parkinson worked with the players on the training pitch. A matter he alluded to on numerous occasions in his blogs. Argument not undermined at all.

    It was Robson.

So Robson, Pardew and Parkinson all worked with the players on the training pitch plus the goalkeeping coaches but ALL of the blame for "poor" coaching is to be laid at Parky's door. We just don't know how much input he had or how much he agreed/disagreed with Pardew. The changes in line up and formation last night suggest that he has a mind of his own.

He's a caretaker. He may well be too close to the old regime to inspire the players but those who went felt that they played for him last night. How well he can coach the team when he has free reign we shall see over the next few games.

It may be that he can't turn it around in which case he'll, quite rightly, been given the push when the new man comes in.

Henry, given my former profession , I know I'm sometimes prone to over-reading the runes. But interested that in your last sentence above you say 'when' and not 'if'...
  • Robson left months ago. One could argue that this really poor run of results started after his departure. So who was doing the coaching after Robson left?
I would have liked the slate to be wiped clean with Parky leaving along with Pards.
However he's been put in charge so i'll back him all the way.
I liked some of his changes last night especially the midfield paring of Racon and Semedo. But he needs to get a win quickly or the initial impact of the change will be lost and he will be on his bike.

QA, Agree he needs to start winning games ASAP. I just think he is his own man. May still not be good enough.

NW, it was a conditional "when" linked to "if he can't turn it around".

    Took fours last night!!
  • Had a punt on Parky - if we'd won last night and won again Saturday I think he might well have got the job.

Looking a bit more dodgy now. Needs a very good win with a good performance on Saturday now.
