The Takeover Thread - Duchatelet Finally Sells (Jan 2020)

Henry Irving said:ASked about the Bowyer situation @razil said that LB hadn't been backed at all and cited the lack of money to replace Grant. The Maidstone apoligist said that Bowyer wants to sign a contract and it was pointed out by Steve Clarke from CAST that he hasn't signed a contract and a lot of players will be reluctant to sign when it is unclear who the manager is.
Asked why Bowyer had been given a contract he didn't understand and that wasn't "normal" LDT said they were trying to be "creative" and reward Bowyer for his work. He was asked why this wasn't discussed with Bowyer before he was sent the contract (as Bowyer stated) and LDT said it had been. It was pointed out that this hadn't been what Bowyer said but LDT said it had. Have now moved on and trying to agree a deal.3 -

Will promotion lead to an increase in the price of the club?
LDT "no" "The three different prices are agreed and will not go change if we go up or stay down"
Q: Will Roland go to the play off final if we get there? LDT "No"
Q: Will you go? LDT "yes"35 -
Typical @Henry Irving /CL clique member, dodged the most important questions;
Whose shit was the brownest?
Whose was hardest to scrub from the walls?0 -

PS, RD & KM are incompetent, but is LDT ?
Considering it's not even his job and he is having to do what he's told.1 -
Great stuff, Henners & thanks for the swift update.
Wonder whether LDT rang his lord and master moaning " That's another fine mess you've got me into ! "
Can ANYONE see this ending well, and before the start of next season ?
It's not you that's in a fine mess, LDT, it's OUR club.
( BTW, Henry. Ignore any sarcastic remarks made earlier about your sartorial elegance...It's simply envy )

Not sure that I’d have LDT in the top 200 -
Well that was great for another few pages just as this thread was going stale. Top work Mr. Irving.4

Thanks Henry, good stuff. IMO the only chance we have is if we get promoted! 🤞0

On reflection, and I should perhaps have pushed this more last night the issue is "agreed price"
LDT said the 5th International group had agreed a price but hadn't completed DD.
So that can only be an initial, indicative price as they haven't been through the books. They will make a lower offer after DD.
But RD takes that initial price as final and won't move from it.
I believe it is the same with the other two groups.8 -
5th Group - The international group An offer has been recieved and a price agreed. They are in the final stages of due diligence.
Two years ago that might have sounded interesting, but now...6 -
The only person who has agreed a price is Roland.
He has agreed a price with himself which he thinks is fair.
As for any potential buyers I do not believe a price has been agreed.
Had it been then a takeover would have happened by now.7 -

He was challenged on this as the losses were still very high and was told by me that they were result of incompetence over the past five years/
LDT said that it was unfair to say that the staff were incompetent. I replied that I wasn't speaking about the staff but about the leadership.
LDT the senior staff at the club aren't incompetent. I clarified that he, Meire and Duchatelet had run the club very badly and were all incompetent.
The losses of the club were structural but due to the incompetence of this three. LDT wasn't happy but didn't respond.
I pointed out that the last accounts showed turnover dropping to £7.3m from £7.6m LDT said T/O was at £7.6m this year and would go higher with the play-offs.
Most of us need to work for a living and can’t always take a principled stance that we might wish to.
RD remains the issue no one else.1 -
I think I stumbled upon LDT's FF crib sheet on the train.
The way it must work is you first select a group from the left hand column and then apply one of the factors from each of the other columns. At first glance it may seem over simplified, but it has generated many meetings, much discussion and most importantly kept him in a job.Groups

Suggesting fans clean the stadium and local streets after games to save money. LDT
Lying and deliberately obstruction bid legimate bonuses.
Failing in his key task of selling the club. LDT
Offering a contract to Bowyer that even Murray didn't understand. LDT
Ultimately, Duchatelet is the problem but LDT is an incompetent part of that problem.
He is totally unskilled and unsuitable for the role he is in. He is incompetent.

What do we know?
1) We know there is genuine interest in buying the club
2) Duchatelet wants far too much money for it
Not sure how anything can change unless the second thing we know changes significantly. Not sure how we can judge potential buyers or criticise them in any way because of their reluctance to pay a ridiculous price.0 -
Was anything mentioned about the £30m bid from a 'former banker'?4

He is totally unskilled and unsuitable for the role he is in. He is incompetent.
He has been placed in role by RD and probably doing the best he can with his hands likely tied by RD demands.
Failing to sell the club down to LVT ? I thought we all accepted that was down to RDs asking price.
Not sure what you expect in the circumstances of him or anyone asked to fill in this role. It’s a lose lose for anyone surely.
As I said most can’t take a principled stand and do what they can to get their job done as far as they are able.
Only promotion is going to move this position along more quickly it seems to me.0 -

Sure, it makes the club more attractive but enough to make someone pay £65m?
And I don't think "he's only doing what he's told" is an excuse.
As the senior person on the ground he has responsibility and so has to take some of the blame.1
