Watching Liverpool-Wolves, it’s remarkable how much like Liverpool we play although to be fair they’re rather better at it than we are.3

I rate him as a manager and they’ve shown they were a decent team, but I’m not really sure I agree with his comments about their second half performance. They looked a little out of ideas given how defensive we wentForeverAddickted said:Doncaster views from Grant McCann

if anything i think the first half an hour was when they looked better9 -
I also disagree with Blair's comments... He's talking like its 2-2cabbles said:

They dont just need a result against us at the Valley but need to score by two clear goals
Shrewsbury last season were the last team to manage that in SE72 -
Absolutely correct that they talk themselves up but they know they’ve got to play out of their skins to turn it around.cabbles said:

I let out a little bit of wee when Joe Aribo scored .... excitement or prostate problem. I’m not quite sure. Just want to congratulate Lee Bowyer and his team for doing a job on Doncaster. Don’t care what their manager says, we were the much better team and could quit easily be taken back a bigger lead back to the Valley. With our home record, you have to fancy us to get the result we need. COYR11

And the ref had already blown his whistle to stop the game, just before the ball crossed the goal line.AddicksAddict said:
Re Parker’s “goal”. I have to disagree, he clearly pulled their guy back.SDAddick said:
Yeah thought Pratley was brought on too early. Morgan wasn't as brilliant today as he has been but Pratley really slows momentum. Felt the same about the Pearce substitution. But it seemed Parker was struggling and it was basically bring on Pearce or a midfielder. The early substitution of Morgan kind of forced Bowyer's hand (given we don't have a striker on the bench). So we invited them on to us for half an hour and they got one back.Leuth said:Great performance while we had 2 up front. Predictably poor with 1 up front. I hate how we go into 'shit mode' when we're winning - it means only one team is likely to score. BUT, the good outweighed the bad and we will surely finish the job!
Still, good result. Very good result. Never really had to get out of third gear. We are capable of much better but we did the job away from home. Friday night will be rocking.
Hope Parker hasn't picked up anything serious. He's not the best footballer on the planet but provides a very good foil for Taylor and had a goal wrongfully chalked off.

Gonna miss the match on Friday as I’m booked in Lewisham Hospital to have my prostate removed. Gutted ... but as some have pointed out, there are more important things in life than Charlton Athletic Football Club. C’est la vieAddicksAddict said:

Happy with that, before today we knew three wins would get us promotion - we’ve got the first of those in the bag.4

Would have taken that scoreline at the start of the game but a bit gutted with the pony goal conceded. Even if it did win me 155 quid on the scorecast.2

Could understand Morgan being taken off and Pratley did fine but bringing Pearce on was too negative for my liking. Messes with the back line and invites pressure, would've been Williams on for me.
Parker very good, Aribo superb.
Overall gotta be pleased with the win even if the gloss was taken off somewhat at the end.3 -
I thought getting Bielik out of the back 3 and into midfield was a good thing thoughTalal said:Could understand Morgan being taken off and Pratley did fine but bringing Pearce on was too negative for my liking. Messes with the back line and invites pressure, would've been Williams on for me.

Nervy start, we could have been 2 nil down in the first half.
I know there’s a bit of disappointment ,of letting a late goal in, but if you’d told me we were going to win 2-1 before the match I’d have taken that.
Plenty to play for, really need to lift the roof for the boys on Friday night.
We are loads better than we were a season ago.
If we play how we have played all season, disciplined and keep our nerve, well be okay.1 -
We look a bloody decent side. Hopefully that goal is the wake up to keep us keen for the second leg.
Cullen immense. MOTM for me. Kinsella-esque. Parker decent too. Let’s have the Valley rocking on Friday. COYRs

Absolutely bossed that. Should've killed them off with a third but I'll take that going back to The Valley. Donny fans I was chatting to afterwards reckon we're easily the best team they've played all season. Electric atmosphere, great day.

Well for me the burger was really tasty although if I’m being picky the bun was over-toasted. Super polite staff so on the whole definitely recommended. The Chasers Inn, Shipbourne.1

Frustrated with the home goal as thought we'd done a great job on them. Any away win though is amazing for us to take back to The Valley. Mention for Phillips who made a great save in the corner in the first half, especially as he had been cold for ages due to our possession. A good overall performance I felt and as others have said, fantastic atmosphere in away end. Great to see so many vintage 80's & 90's shirts. Also nice ro have a chat with Seth Plum before game. Safe journey home

Happy with that, good performances all over the pitch, deserved winners1

Think we went too defensive with the changes 2nd half, but overall everyone would have taken a 2-1 win back to the Valley. Also that late goal will stop anyone thinking that the job is done, because it's not. Ca't wait till Friday the Valley will be rocking.0

An excellent result, but slightly deflating to let in that late goal.
i thought at half time that Doncaster would score, but also thought that we would add to our goals. That we didn’t was partially down to the subs which took away much of our attacking threat, having to rely on a tired Aribo and Taylor to catch them on the break just wasn’t the same. Very surprised Williams didn’t come on to give us fresh legs.
Would have been happier with the subs if this was a single match which we were closing out, rather than just the first leg. A third goal would probably have killed the tie.2 -

How many times have we seen teams in that situation & come a cropper ? It ain't won until it's wonChris_from_Sidcup said:Disappointing to concede but we'd have taken that at kick off.
Unbeaten at home in 7 months and in front of a full house at the Valley we'll finish the job.
Can't imagine too many Doncaster fans will be rushing out to be buy 2nd leg tickets after that as well so think they'll have 1400 max.2 -
The vegetarian offering was surprisingly a cheese and onion pie
Gave it a miss.
Early start and hungry so we needed that win to compensate!
