Just had this from Clive Chivers - He runs the Junor Reds FC, which operates in several leagues in South East London.

Vote and give Junior Reds the star treatment with your local Kingsmill London Regional Bakery

Archant London has teamed up with your local Kingsmill London Region Bakery to offer Junior Reds the chance to win a sporting boost worth £1000!

The Bakery knows the importance of eating a healthy and balanced diet, and when you combine this with keeping active it adds up to healthy living, which is important for the whole family.

This is why they are offering 3 lucky junior sports clubs the chance to each win £1000 cash prize and a sporting-sized delivery of Kingsmill 50/50 bread to make sure that eating a healthy and balanced diet goes hand-in-hand with staying active.

Kingsmill 50/50 is baked with 50% wholegrain and 50% white flour, meaning it combines the nutritional benefits of wholegrain with the tastiness of white bread, making it a hit with everyone – even the kids.

Voting closes at Midnight on Friday 5th December 2008

Vote for Junior Reds

They're all Charlton lads giving up their free time to run football clubs for toddlers to teenagers.

Just to provide a bit of balance, there a hundreds of such people doing the same for kids from 5-16 all over our area, not just Junior Reds. The SELKent League alone (of which Junior Reds is a member club) has over 80 clubs clubs running nearly 500 teams at mini-soccer and 11-a-side level, and girls football too.

And a great job they all do CFW, but Junior Reds FC was spawned off from the sadly and wrongfully eradicated Junior Reds group, is run by 'Charlton people' and tries to maintain as strong links as it can with the club we support.

The field opposite my house is populated every saturday morning by the hugely successful and organised Footscray Lions outfit, 200+ local kids all wearing gear with a Millwall badge on and getting links to our rival club.

It is vital we have a similar outfit trying to do the same thing for Charlton in local leagues, it is likely to have more impact as any of our other community initiatives as it provides long-term links and sustainability.

  • As a former Junior Reds manager ( I ran one of the teams for a season about five years ago and so just what hard work it is and the commitment involved by players, parents and coaches) I can only endorse this totally- please, please, please cast your vote now- I have. Good luck Clive

Millwall change their 'feeder' club on a regular basis. In the 6 years I've been in kids football I can think of at least 3, one of which is now the youth team for Welling United.

While all this is going on it's brilliant that the team that is associated with Charlton is constant and actually carries the name.

BTW, Clive is a top man (as are many of those who run the club) and also a very good referee
