Time to go back to basics

Get rid of the loan players. If we do stay up with the current squad so what? We will have stayed up based on half the team being borrowed and we will have to keep treading water season after season by relying on loans continuing to paper over the cracks.

Get rid of all the prima donnas that dont have the passion, balls or desire to play for club. Start playing youth players, cheap signings on low wages and players that have got some hunger and something to prove and will be 100% committed to the cause and not go missing every other game. Parkinson isnt the answer as he was a presence during pardews tenure as were many of the current squad and nothing has changed really since his departure.

No money for an instant fix manager or player wise so we may as well go back to basics and start again from nothing, relying on youth and hungry and determined players and management.

Never too late, mate. Unless the season is only 20 matches long.

Another chance on Tuesday. Or should we all quit now?

    ;o)

Eh? Who, me? What exactly have I been saying then?
  • people who have been predicting the current situation have been slagged off and dismissed on a regular basis not just by you but many others.Well we are in the pooh good and proper and i can't believe how a club can fall so fast.

I think you are mixing me up with somone else mate. Unless of course you aren't refering to me specifically?
  • no not you specifically but im fed up with people tellin me its only so many matches long way to go etc.Since the Barnsley debacle we have played 6 games and picked up 2 points. Now that is feckin disgraceful.
  • I don't like using them as a comparison but look at Palace last year; in a similar position to Charlton this year (not rock bottom though), brought in a well known no nonsense manager, played mostly youngsters and ended up in a respectable position in the league.

Apologies if this comparison has alredy been made but I haven't been on here much for the past week or so. a minor problem at the airport plus having a number of friends in town has kept me rather busy.

Get rid of the prima donnas Rodney...exactly who are you refering to....we've had some that's true but I'm finding it hard to know who you can hang that label on at present.
Can't see any prima donnas as such but plenty of underacheivers.......... if that's what you mean?

This is the 1st time I have logged on to any charlton content this weekend, I got back home from Guernsey full of man flu and heard the result through a fog and could not bear to read more about Charlton, I felt bad enough. has it really got this bad? Well a few benylins later and the answer is yes, we are bottom of the league. Its never over till its over, but it does feel like everything is against us. However, I was thinking back to our first relegation season from the Prem. And whilst that was ultimately a lost cause, I remember we went 9 games without a point, we were unlucky, we were poor and we were defeated, we could not see where the next point was going to come from, let alone 3 points. Then we played Wimbledon and their keeper and defence cocked up handed us a goal in a 2-0 victory and we went on to our last game of the season beofre we finally had our relegation confirmed.

All we need is a bit of luck, an opposition player missing an open goal and up the other end a defender slicing the ball into his own net. It is becoming a tall ask but 3 points on Tuesday could deliver another the following Monday and the building of a momentum as we climb the table. I am optimistic for a piece of luck and that we will get ourselves out of this - I hjave to because that is what being a charlton fan is all about.

That's what I was wondering. Not really sure we have any, but we certainly have underachievers.
