WHAT'S WORSE ? OUR TEAM OR OUR AWAY SUPPORT?

but for a few games new grounds/free travel provided , i think our away support has been a disgrace in the last ten years. Admittedly our first prem year up we had good followings everywhere but since then i feel our away support has been a joke. I've felt embarrassed that we can't fill small away allocations in london, always hoped the match of the day cameras wouldn't show the sparsely populated away ends , which would lead to ridicule from work colleagues on a monday morning. Even in our all conquering championship year we had a measly 1200 to see us confirmed as champions at blackburn. We couldn't even fill our section at old trafford in recent years(CURBS last match excluded). So why is our away support so bad when we have such healthy home gates, it is expensive, kick off times etc are awkward but it's the same for all travelling fans and we're (in numbers) one of if not the poorest supported club in the premiership. So the non support the non team will get at boro is probably about right

I think it comes back to the "lost generation" problem. Those either side of the gap are either too young to go or are married/have responsibilities and not as much disposable income to spend on away trips.

Sorry - didn't answer the question!
    - the bunch or players masquerading as a "team".

sorry lookout i had forgotten but pards keeps bringing it back to my attention;-(
just trying to take my mind of yesterdays performance, i can assure you it was ugly;-)
  • Mr Golightly and I are looking forward to an outing to Ipswich where once again we will be singing heartily to encourage the boys. A lovely tenor Mr Golightly, where I of course am a delicate mezzosoprano. Or it might be the other way round. No matter we still sing heartily.

it's too early to start going on about going down.but even if we do,it will still be a part of pardew's 5 year plan.

and maybe we have to go down another league to get rid of the johnnycome lately glory boy premiership fans that persist on boooing and only the real hardcore 10k/8k/5k will be left to watch the addicks phoenix rise

but then,if we do get back to the premiership one day,it won't be as much fun as we are having right now.and we will all hark back to this golden era and be hating every time we beat liverpool or chelsea.

It's not just the Johnny Come Latelys though. The bloke behind me is as miserable as sin at the moment, and I used to see him at Selhurst.

I would rather stick rusty cutlery in my eyes

Blackpools that close?? I could go and rekindle my affair with the place!

Was it Burnley about ten years ago where we took about 30 fans for a league cup game?

If my memory serves me right it was the 96-97 season (was it?? HELP) when we beat that shower over two legs.

I remember we beat them 2-1 at their place.

Yeah Blackpool is that close. Ill give you a lift.

You would moan if we did a Qiunruple (?) and even if by fluke we became the first club side to win the World Cup too. All you do is bloody moan.

    GOOD NEWS......!!!

Andy Gray to score against Burnley.

In time honoured fashion, players ALWAYS score against their former club.

But of course, he'll be on the bench and won't come on :o(

i never moan in the ground(just the odd bout of tourettes) and hardly ever moaned during curbs glory years cos i knew it would go downhill once he left....
i think we've got a great board and anyone who's mad enough to put the money them boys have into our club are welcome to employ who they want but i don't have to agree with it

since i've been on this forum there's been plenty to moan about;-(

i've just got sultana and i've enjoyed the prem games i've seen on there the quality of football is second to none , 4 teams in the quarters of the champions league is something to be proud of not bemoan...
