It's a shame he's leaving but I can't say I blame him. His time at Charlton probably hasn't done his career prospects much good. He signed with us for Championship football but gets a relegation and 3 years kicking about in League One on his CV instead. If it weren't for his Wembley goal, his profile was nowhere really and never going to get him a big move, and no disrespect to Preston, he still hasn't got himself a big move.

Well they're certainly more likely to be higher up the table than we are. Preston weren't a million miles off the play offs last year, another 4-5 wins over the season and they're right up there. Bauer as a senior pro and is entitled to find his worth which I expect is dramatically more than we are likely to pay.0

Glad he's gone to Preston over Blackburn and Wigan
The latter are still adapting to life back in the Championship and could easily be down with us next season; Preston are a bit of a Northern version of Brentford in the sense they go for potential players rather than risky big names0 -

Oh dear .... there is so much I want to write in response to some of the above but I'm having a bad Parkinson's day and typing is a problem. Laters.
Just one item for now, then. I bought four of the fabulous Wembley prints. I thought getting them signed would be a good idea. The BFG was happy to come round to my flat in SE18 to do the honours. What a guy!! I just hope he's signed the PNE contract in pencil, pending a worthier offer from CAFC's imminent new owners (hopefully).
EDIT: ok, ok, so he's signed already. Maybe he sounds like he's dancing right now but believe me there are tears in his eyes ....

Totally gutted if we are to do anything next season we need reliable players like the BFG. Wish him well and expect he’s getting more money but in my opinion it’s hardly a step up.0

Another thing about losing Pat ...... he had represented a continuity of stability in the team.
He had been one of the longest serving players, consistant and dependable and a role model for incoming players and upcoming youngsters.
He 'got' what a Lee Bowyer team was all about.
I bet Lee would rather he'd stayed and provided stability, part of the transition of the team to cope with the Championship.

To you and the lovely German Addicks, Patrick was more than a player wearing the red shirt. Great respect & affection on both sides.
You knew that he was 99% certain to move on but there was always a degree of optimism that the sale of our club plus the new contract for Bow, together with a decent contract offer to the BFG , might change his mind. You told us that he loved being in the London area too.
Sadly, this was not meant to be.
But no Addick , present at Wembley THAT day will forget the part that Patrick played in making a very special day a monumental one and for that alone, his name will always be revered in the same way that Super Clive Mendonca /the 1998 Play Off Final is. Memories to cherish indeed.
Bless you, Patrick for giving your all for the Addicks & for being a superb role model in the way you always conducted yourself both on & off the pitch. A true gent.
We send you our very best wishes for your future at your new club and in your new role as ein Vater.
