    Bobby Charlton was a great footballer & won the WC- not so good as a manager though. 
    It's fairly ludicrous now how players are catapulted into the top jobs with no experience. Lampard has done little at Derby yet somehow he's a perfect fit at Chelsea because he's a 'legend'.

    Yeah,  just imagine if we catapulted in a manager who played just over 50 games for us as a kid then became football's most expensive teenager and went on to have a long, successful but controversial career at the top level.

    I was talking about the Prem not L1 - LB started out as a coach and fair enough I think L1/L2 is a reasonable level to start at.

    I doubt many people expected LB to be a success and to be such a diplomat dealing with our bonkers owner.

    in the last 6 years derby have been in the playoffs 4 times - the other 2 times finishing 9th ( so not exactly relegation scrap )

    rangers - lets not forget the issues they had so were undergoing a rebuild, personally cannot see them challenging for title in next  3/4 years, and will likely finish 2nd.

    The hiring of big named former players is as much to do with, in my opinion, them having played at the level of the players they are going in to manage and will (to a degree) command a certain amount of respect from those players.

    It shouldn't be the case but humans can be dismissive of those that haven't experienced what they've experienced.

    Okay derby are an almost there club - tbh if aribo wants to leave i couldn't give a flying where he goes i think its a silly move to go to scotland as can dissapear quite quickly.

    I guess the 2014/15 season for Derby is when George Tucudean took them apart at the Valley?

    If so they looked by far one of the stronger teams in the Division yet had a customary nose dive of form

    It really seems as though some on here would actively want Aribo to fail at Rangers just so they can eventually say “told you so”.

    Personally, I think this is one instance where staying at Charlton really isn’t the best thing for him. And I hope that wherever he goes, be it Scotland or anywhere else, that he absolutely goes and smashes it.

    dont mind him leaving - well actually i hate any of our better players leaving - its a natural thing, in bauers way its purely a money move as he is replaceable, in joe its a young talent that we have got to a decent level a move to scotland is not the best move i said it earlier in the thread who was the last big player to come down from scotland aside andy robertson?. 

    if he was joining a prem club would completely get it, but this does feel like a jump at the money at 1st opportunity, as with all these players they arent getting paid peanuts, gerrard leaves rangers and thats the coaching side of things out of the window, i think it speaks volumes when a manager of the most succesful scottish club in recent years fucks them off for a midtable premier league side, who arent never likely to challenge for the title any time soon.

    Scottish football is a different kettle of fish. It is not actually quite what we assume it to be.

    An Old Firm derby like no other.

Gerrard .... still bowyer a better bet to improve Aribo - despite Gerrard having all those accolades - does not make him a good manager - Karl Robinson can get rangers to finish second and runners up in the cup and eliminated in the knockout rounds of the cup ..... it’s is rubbish footy ...
