I personally think some people forget that yes Joe shone but it was in League One and he's never played above that level. At 200/300k then he's a risk worth taking but there was hardly a queue of Championship or PL clubs after him. In my opinion I don't think he's good enough for the PL and would be a slightly better than average player in the Championship. I've never really rated him as highly as most on here do. I wish him well in the SPL but I can't see him making a move from there to the EPL.
    Weren’t you boycotting last season?

Could fail his medical on a previously unknown existing condition.

It was chucking it down in Glasgow this afternoon. Here's hoping it has put him off.

Somebody posted on here that Aribo was one footed.

One can argue he might be better off here, but that assumes we approximate the £1M per year Celtic and Rangers were reportedly offering. We probably were not even close to those offers. My guess is we offered something stupid like £10k/week. So it's all moot. Only an idiot would stay here for 1/2 the wages and while we still have a cnut owner. Thanks for the memories Joe! Good luck in The Premier League in 2020-21!

Then surely you're as roughly informed as I am, having watched most matches on iFollow, makes it very hard to form a proper opinion.

Absolutely nothing stops people on Charlton Life forming an opinion!

All I'm saying is it's still not confirmed.

    But it may be soon.
To be fair, landing in Paisley might dissuade him from signing!
Hey!!! Was willing to go along with the “Scottish football is rubbish” line but you leave Paisley alone!

It’s actually alright these days btw.

For me iFollow has meant I could see more games in a season than I used to, so if anything it makes it easier.

Could argue you also have a better view than you’d get at games (depending where you sit of course).

Surely it can’t be that big a number if you’ve been boycotting, tell Stu which games you went to last season...

Great words from Lee but Aribo is only worried about his bank balance, not his growth playing competive games every week. Personally I hope he goes, only interested in players who want to play for Charlton.
  • Easy for Bowyer to say that and obviously he left us and walked straight into a premier league side, but i wonder what he himself would've done back then if he'd been offered 5 times his salary to go to Rangers?

Look at how Southampton have developed players the last ten years or so. Could have been a good stepping stone for him to a big club while playing in the Premier League.

Agree with what Lee says... You do have to be special to go from the SPL to the Premier League as a lot of players from that level end up in the Championship

It really will be a waste if in two or three years he gets picked up by a Derby or Stoke at this level as he would have wasted his time up there

Will be interested to see what Joe says (Although it'll be the usual crap when a player signs a contract) but can only imagine its the thought of Europa League Football and the prospect of being noticed that way that has turned his head

Like that from Bowyer. Do wonder if something’s gone on there though as that’s a massive dig at Aribo.

Its proper triggered Rangers fans as well so that’s a bonus.

Bowyer tells it straight. Love it. Only reason why you would swap the Premier League for Scottish football is money.

Yup and good luck to him. Came through at Staines. Probably thought making a living out of football was impossible, now being paid a fortune.
I’m disappointed he didn’t develop with us but I absolutely can’t blame him.

    Southampton are.
  • “Lee tells it straight”.

Not sure about that, he had an agenda for Aribo to stay in UK as he will be looking for some of the development fee to reinvest.

Not a criticism, he is trying to look after his beat interests.

I don't need to justify how many games I've seen him play live and I'm not going to. I didn't realise it was a requisite to do so to comment on Charlton Life.

Bow is only saying what we're all thinking. Joe will be playing with and against a poorer standard of player than if he had moved to a championship club. I conceded long ago he wouldn't stay but this isn't a move to develop his immediate career.

Yes some good players have come from Scotland but Van Dijk really came on when he went to Southampton, otherwise he would have gone to a top 6 PL side directly from Celtic.
