great news .. he'll be needed0

Club captain Jason Pearce has signed an extension to his contract to keep him at Charlton until at least June 2021.
The influential centre-back has played 81 games for the Addicks since joining the club in 2016 from Wigan Athletic.
Speaking after putting pen to paper Pearce said: “I wanted to get that stability with the club, I enjoy it here. I love the club and it has been a good year and I feel like Charlton are on the up. The club obviously had a bit of interest for me in the summer but it didn’t change anything, I wanted to stay here.
“I’m proud that the club have allowed me to extend my contract and hopefully I can repay that with some good performances on the pitch.”
Pearce has played 158 games in the Championship during spells at Portsmouth, Leeds United and Wigan.
Charlton boss Lee Bowyer said: “Pearcey is our captain, he’s our leader on and off the pitch. I always say you need experience in a team and his experience is so valuable. He’s also a very, very good centre-half so I’m delighted he’s signed a new contract with us.”

I still see that header in the final seconds of the play-off final, as the ball was dropping into our area he came rushing out from deep and put a decisive head on it to clear it miles from danger!

That was Purrington. There’s a clip from the Sunderland end somewhere that confirmed it.SaySomething said:I still see that header in the final seconds of the play-off final, as the ball was dropping into our area he came rushing out from deep and put a decisive head on it to clear it miles from danger!1 -
Lee Bowyer said he wasnt letting what happened with Aribo happen again, and a few days later Pearce signs, great news0

He is our skipper, an experienced head, has played this level, a good motivator and leader and I still have significant doubts on Sarr’s ability to not be a liability at this level so think he will be needed a lot.DamoNorthStand said:

hope it is the first with Taylor and Djiksteel to follow.0 -
Well that puts the rumours of him joining Sunderland / Portsmouth to bed4
-
I’ve just heard a rumour he’s being sold to Sunderland or Portsmouth now and that signing a contract just ensured we’d get a fee.
Rolands not daft though, he’s structured the deal as £0 up front and this time a big fat sell on fee on any profit they make as he ages...5 -

Good news though he wouldn't be top of my list of players I'd want to sign contract extensions. Interestingly that's the second contract extension he's signed since he joined us in 20161

So??? I don't get your point. He's obviously happy, and doesn't want to move.killerandflash said:Good news though he wouldn't be top of my list of players I'd want to sign contract extensions. Interestingly that's the second contract extension he's signed since he joined us in 2016
I thought we wanted players who wanted to play for the shirt...0 -
Excellent news ... well pleased with that.1

Important to sign up our captain and first choice centre half.2

Just noting that it's a real rarity that he's signed 2 contract extensions while he's been here, indeed since the Curbishley era has anyone done this, other than ex academy players?East_Stand_Loopy said:
