London Restaurants

We are coming to London for a matinee performance of the Only Fools & Horses musical so will be in the Theatre Royal, Haymarket area for the evening, can anyone recommend a decent restaurant in the vicinity? I am well out of touch, must be 25 years since I've had a night out in London so would welcome any ideas where we could get a decent steak or anything else other than a curry! Ta

Caprini’s in Waterloo Road and a cab to the west end.
The steaks are superb and the house red is excellent.

Zedels is great.
Duck and waffle local is nearby too for tasty pre theatre food.
Hawksmoor pre theatre menu disappointing.
Cant go wrong with a busaba imo.1 -

You’ll absolutely love the show, it’s brilliant.
we went to Thai Square about 3 mins walk away before seeing it, just down the bottom of Haymarket...couldn’t fault it2 -
Heliot Steakhouse in the Hippodrome Casino, Leicester Square. Amazing in every way.1

Weirdly was about to start a similar thread, as I'm looking for somewhere central (watching the Lion King matinee) that would be good with two young kids but also nice for adults too rather than just McDonalds etc0

I work in Kingly St and think that Zedels is disappointing. They look to get you out within an hour and food is average. Hawksmoor; overpriced, alright for expense account for a serious lunch. I like the more relaxed places like Kricket in Denman St (Indian). Bocca Di Lupa (Italian) in Archer St is my current favourite. All the places in Kingly Court are great for atmosphere2

I’m going to add Nopi in Warwick St to the v impressive list. Soho House always delivers too but service can be pretentious. Need membership as well1

Want to avoid the chains if possible, just be nice to go somewhere a bit different than the normal 'been to the cinema and can't be arsed to cook now' restaurants.0
