could he play creative CM or have his legs gone? discuss..

Comments

  • Couldn`t do any worse than what we currently have !
  • not a good idea IMO

he is a winger if you want a creative midfielder look no further than our own Jon Jo
  • thought he did very well being clever in the corner last night, holding the ball up and being the model pro we are lacking in all areas

Keithie Peacock did - once his legs had gone.

Andy Reid did before his legs had gone.

Worth a try - but who do you take ou, Bailey?

Havent seen much of him but I don't consider JS a creative midfielder, he comes across as a more direct player like Parker/Kinsella. We need someone with guise like Jensen/Murphy in my opinion.

Good idea Razil & then we could re-sign Carl Tiler & play him on the wing!

He's somewhere in between. He's not a play maker but he likes to get on the ball and spray passes around, more than someone like Parker. I know what you mean, he's more of a box-to-box midfielder.

As for Gillespie I don't think it would suit him, bit like playing Ambrose in a 4-4-2 in CM.

I reckon Razil's suggestion could be a good shout.

Maybe even use Toddy in that position late on. But no reason with Sam out wide, Gillespie couldn't do the creative stuff in the middle. But we would need to sacrifice a ballwinner.

Mind you with Waghorn dropping off his marker and coming deep, why we need to change things just at the mo.
    Especially away games.

He's probably the best crosser we have though.

I am a bit of a Keith Gillespie fan, I would like the deal to be made permanent or at least until the end of the season, he could be a very big influence as the season wears on, he has after all been in this predicament before.
  • Jon Jo can see a pass like Parker but has got the tricks like Class Jensen and the engine of Kins

the boy is going to be class lets just pray we stay up and it is with us

So you don't rate him then? smiley winkey thing

Really hope we get to see more of him and don't have to sell him when and if he signs a professional contract. All of the above were my midfield heroes.

Do rate Gillespie but it's tricky. Couldn't drop Lloyd Sam after that performance but Gillespie is our best crosser of the ball. Nice to have a selection nightmare for the right reasons on the wing.
  • Oops didn't mention Gillespie as creative CM don't think he's legs would be up to it and it might be wasting his crossing ability.

Gillespie as creative CM in a midfield 5 perhaps .........his composure, vision, touch and short accurate passing would cut through a defence if has players like Sam & Buzz wide and Gray in front of him.

And I reckon he could pick the killer pass.

So we'd play a passing game through them, rather than around and over them.
But I believe Parky will stick to 4-4-2, anyhow.

Mmm wasn't the same player i saw against Swansea or Yeovil at the start of the season. But I agree that a Creative player in the centre of the park would solve most of our problems.

Main thing is Sam has some competition, and we've got two different types of wingers there now.

One with more pace, the other a better crosser and passer.

If Sam can consistently play well I'm happy with him there, with Gillespie on the bench.

Big if though, Thomas, Rommedahl and Ambrose all failed to find consistency.

Gillespie had his contract with Sheff Utd cancelled by mutual consent today and is now a free agent.

He has agreed that who ever he plays for, he will not play against them. ;-0)

Not surprising, he didn't get on with their manager.

In parts I don't think Gillespie was to bad, sign him to the end of the season in a play as you play deal.

As a free agent, he can sign for a club outside the transfer window.
