    She probably does what I do, which is to feel a bit awkward, not join in, then forget about it once it's finished.

    My family love it. But that is largely because when I first took them at age 6 or so, I convinced them that it was ‘chips, grannies and Charlton’. Took them almost a decade to notice. They still sing those words now in their late 20s.

    The tits fanny and charlton song was the first I remember as a lad going football. Part of tradition for me. 

    Plus i I do really enjoy tits fanny and Charlton whilst thinking south east London is wonderful.

    Regarding TF & C, I’m old school enough to be not particularly bothered by it but wouldn’t sing it around one of our extended group’s female (21yo) as I know she doesn’t like it.  But.....

    How many Asian people do you see at the Valley? How many lesbians feel comfortable enough to hold hands walking to the ground?

    Until we see a proportional amount of Asians coming and people feel comfortable to just be who they are without getting abuse, it's a very big deal.

    What percentage of a 10,000 charlton home crowd will demonstrate proportionate representation of gay female Asian Charlton fans then? 

    Anyone who abuses someone on the basis of sex, race or sexuality is a wrong un and have no place in football or society.

    But I don't get what these articles are about and find it all very patronising.

    You're a Charlton fan who cares about any other aspect of your identity?

    Perhaps moving on and stopping highlighting and focusing on  all this stuff constantly would progress society. 

    There's articles on the BBC website like this practically every day and whilst well meaning I don't know who it's aimed at or the need for the message.

    People are people, Charlton fans are Charlton fans. Why does it need to be analysed beyond that.

    We have always  been a very welcoming club...if people choose not to come to Charlton I would imagine it's more down to lack of interest in our club as an unfashionable club in lower divisions than because of lack of inclusivity.

    But I am a white straight bloke so may be ignorant in my perspective on this so happy to be educated on it.

    Other than parents with very small children, I've never seen anyone hold hands walking into the ground. 

    Therefore straight people dont feel comfortable being who they are.

    Not at all. But constantly highlighting  aspects of identity that are apparently completely irrelevant appears to be the opposite of progressive. 

    Is there an issue with Charlton not being inclusive or welcoming to women or Asians or gay people?

    Rather than the sarcy retort perhaps discuss in terms of educating me in the need for it. Snarky replies just close down the debate/ polarise people coming from different viewpoints.
