    I'm more intrested in the bottom of the table - neither Preston nor Sheff Wed got relegated, so there's hope for us yet.... ;-)

    Southend, Luton and Leeds fell through the trapdoor that season.

    And Leeds made a fair fist of a fight for safety until the penultimate match (before the administration fiasco).

    I thought Palace were at the lower end this time last season?
    We cant use their optimism from that!

    The Palace analogy as a cause for optimism has never really worked because Jordan took decisive action very early and brought Warnock in after just ten games. So by the time of the table reproduced above with Palace in seventh place, Warnock had already been in charge for 15 games - and as you can see, he'd had time to make a fairly dramatic impact.
