  • It's a good job that Britain is coming out of the EU.

The EU has passed a law banning the sales of Xmas products before 15th November.

I read it in The Daily Mail and Daily Express so it must be true.

What's the matter?  Hadn't you realised Advent now starts on 1st September?

No different from the "Back to School" ranges being in the shops before the end of July, or hot cross buns appearing on the shelves the minute the last of the reduced-to-clear Christmas puds have been sold!

P.S.  Last posting dates for Christmas for surface mail to most countries other than N.America & Europe are generally before the end of September - you heard it here first!

You can buy hot cross buns all year round you know. Food is food.

And spouts are on sale in Asda too.
  • Parliament closes and, in the blink of an eye, the festive mince pies are in the shops.
    Whatever next? A General Election?

Love them, heated up with some squirty cream

Yes, but happy to wait a couple of months to eat them...

Besides the supermarkets clear out their excess stock after Christmas cheap, so I usually am still eating them in January and February anyway!
  • With summers often lasting till early/mid October last few years I start looking forward to Christmas from mid October as things get dark, cold and miserable and you need that something special to keep you motivated.  Early Sept for mince pies, no ta.
  • What was the best before date on those? I seem to remember finding some Mince pies in Sainso’s one autumn that went out of date well before Christmas.

Agree mate. Our daughter’s just about still believing in Father Christmas, it will be a sad day in the Mehmet household when she doesn’t.

She’s already too old for the school nativity play, although it does mean I won’t make a dick of myself by being in tears at it.

Polhill Garden Centre has their full Christmas display up. Trees, lights, Santa’s. The lot.

I love Christmas, but it’s ridiculous. Especially as they’ve put it next to their ‘sizzling summer’ deals.
  • Apparently 52% of people love seeing Christmas stuff in the shops in September...

I used to hate them until last year. Mrs Otto bought some from M&S so I thought I’d try them again. After eating 4 of the 6, I decided I now like them.

Always been one of my favourites with a big dollop of double cream.
Unfortunately nowadays, if I eat more than one or two, I get indigestion.
Curios, as I don’t suffer from indigestion apart from when I eat mince pies?

    Imagine being annoyed by Christmas
  • Imagine being annoyed by Christmas

According to recent numbers, 48% of people are annoyed by Christmas.
  • Can't stand it myself, happy to be called a scrooge

trapsing round the shops wasting money on the same crap which they won't like / need / appreciate, only to receive the same load of rubbish and having to pretend you like it when you open it, all those tiresome xmas songs played over and over again.  Then there's the week inbetween xmas and new year when you're just stuck indoors or visiting people you don't like or just tolerate and annoyed at the fact you can't use that time off in the summer.  The sooner it's over the better
