no surgery required same injury as bauer
" lyle has the same as what patrick bauer had last season, its a case of him wearing a brace for a few weeks and seeing where we are at after he takes the brace off, well go from there "
said lee bowyer
bauer was out for just over 2 months with a similar injury
taylor might be back in time for another international break.
what a fucker that is, feel for him as this may be the end of his big move away.1 -

20 goals between December a the end of the season will secure his pay daypalarsehater said:no surgery required same injury as bauer

Doesn't do much for my bet on him being Championship top goalscorer either ...palarsehater said:no surgery required same injury as bauer

It could mean we have him for longer than we would have had him if he didn't get injured!palarsehater said:no surgery required same injury as bauer

i would rather have a player stay because they are happy and want to be here - than being forced to be here due to injury.MuttleyCAFC said:

Someone needs to do a Risk Assessment on these pitches. Surprised our insurers don't insist.0

For purely selfish reasons it would have been more advantageous for Charlton supporters if this injury occurred in late December assuming we are looking at an 8 week lay off. At least Lyle Taylor would see out the season and if an offer wasn't commensurate with his scoring and assists from Cafc he can move on to pastures new at the end of his 2 year contract with my good wishes having left his indelible mark on the history of Charlton athletic FC.
Ps. I accept it would've been more advantageous for Lyle not to get Injured in the first place, but Football and life never goes exactly to plan !0 -
Has anybody said what the injury actually is?0

If we were to shoot the messenger, they would be back before Taylor.4

thats 27 points up for grabs, personally if he was to return millwall a would probably be the worst game to return to as we will be well up for it and he will try harder than he usually does and could re injure himself.
talking of millwall has the november tv schedule been released yet?0 -

Somebody in a PM told me knee ligaments but since that person's a rabid Brexiteer I wouldn't believe a word of it :-) xxxThe_President said:Has anybody said what the injury actually is?
PS, that person is not @Sage, who I expect will tell us more once he has some info.1 -
As I said in two of my original posts when this all came out with the photo’s, (and I got quickly shut down by a certain poster) the degree and placement of the knee brace suggested it was LCL.
It is in fact an LCL tear. This specific type of injury happens by one of two separate ways. First way is impact, you get hit on the medial side of the knee and it forces the lateral side to stretch and those structures tear. The other way is you get your foot stuck in the ground and as you’re trying to turn, it can cause the same injury. Usually these ones are caused by impact though. I don’t know how Lyle’s was caused.
I was told yesterday that we were talking early November time, but it could be ever so slightly earlier if he heals better than expected to. But that’s on the optimistic side of the fence. Cawley then confirmed today that we are looking at 2 months. Bauer got injured on 15th September last season, he played his first game back for us on 20th November in The FA Cup replay, and then again on 24th November - 9 weeks between initial injury and return to play. Therefore, with picking up his injury on what I believe was the 8th September, we can anticipate a similar time frame and why I’m quietly confident he will make the Millwall game.
We have to hope that he really rests up now, has loads and loads of protein and gets himself recovered fully. I’m sure he will. Unfortunately, it does mean that he is very unlikely to play in October with his hair being pink to raise awareness for Cancer Research, but I am sure he will manage to do great in it anyway.11 -
What will loads and loads of protein do ?
(I think we can all guess, but thought I'd ask anyway).
Oh and if it aids recovery, presumably Lewis Page doesn't have protein shakes ?

Just to answer your question, even if everyone else can work it out...Covered End said:What will loads and loads of protein do ?

Proteins get turned into amino acids which is what the body uses to regenerate, recover and build damaged tissues. A diet high in protein will aid the recovery and aim to speed up that process whilst it can also reduce inflammation and even research to say it can minimise the amount of strength and mass lost from immobilisation.
It would be really interesting to know what Page’s nutrition is like. However, Ben Talbot has a MSc in Sports Nutrition, so you would expect the club to be on top of it.10 -
            Thanks for this info, Sage.
It's much appreciated.3 -

As @Stu_of_Kunming said, LCL is Lateral Collateral Ligament.
Depending where you’re from (country) it might be called Fibular Collateral Ligament as it’s the connection between the Femur and Fibula. Similarly, the MCL (Medial) can be called the Tibial Collateral Ligament, as you guessed it, it’s the connection between the Femur and Tibia.
However, as I was taught the way here in the UK, we use anatomical positions (medial, lateral, anterior, posterior, proximal, distal, superior, inferior) it makes it so much easier in my opinion.
So in laymen’s terms, Taylor has torn (albeit not completely, as that would require surgery) the structure that holds his Femur to his Fibula which is on the outside of his knee joint.
But I’ll stop now cause I don’t want to get on people’s nerves
                        10 -
as long as it doesn't include Lyle's nerves......:)1

Doesnt get on my nerves, I find your info and insights very interesting @Sage, thanks8

I appreciate all the thanks, it’s nice to see.
If I have anything further in future, be it about Taylor or anyone else’s injuries/fitness, it’s good encouragement to keep posting what I can, because I know there’s many who do appreciate it and we don’t always get too much clear information from the club.17
