Trevor is still a season ticket holder sitting in the East Stand with me and a few other Old Roans as we have been doing ever since the East Stand eventually opened after we got back to the Valley. Before that we used to stand in the vast East Stand at near enough the same area we are now sitting.
Trevor stills brings along his stopwatch to check how long we have left to score a winner or equaliser and continues to have a thermos flask of a mixture of hot coffee and chocolate!
Even though he does indeed run and own the excellent River Ale House he never misses a home game.4 - Sponsored links:

I see Gary Micklewhite of QPR played for Roan. I can remember him from 1982 FA Cup Final. With David Campbell of CAFC that certainly had a strong team.0

Didn't realise Micklewhite played for Roan. Locked horns with him regularly in the independent junior league as I was a midfielder too. Thought he went to welling school.0

Lucky was the club mascot in the 60s by the way and I think he once appeared on the front cover of the programme. Can anyone confirm that?
As far as I can remember the article was either in the Mercury or Independent (I think probably the latter) and then it turned up in Football League Review, included within the matchday programme in those days, and maybe in the Charlton programme itself, but I'm not sure about that one.
I can definitely remember the idea of keeping some stats in a quadrille exercise book covering things like times of goals, covered end or open end for goals for and against, and a bunch of other stuff that I could come up with, but I can't remember exactly how it came to the attention of anyone else.
My best guess is that it was through my mum. During the mid/late sixties and most of the seventies she worked in the stand at The Valley as a cleaner, and maybe mentioned it to Eddie Firmani who asked to see the work, and the article sprung from that.
I must admit I would never have remembered him being involved. Strangely I am sure that Theo Foley asked about it, and I was invited to go and see him, which I did. I showed him the book(s) in the boardroom and he told me that I could put Cyril Davies in the transfers section as he was his first signing.
That would have been two years later though and my memory can't fill in the gap.
As for The River, thanks for the nice comments. They are much appreciated. We have a decent Charlton thing going on, with the Roanites from The Dacre now regularly in attendance and a number of Glynne's email listers including the man himself. Be warned though, there is no draught lager (not even Carling or Fosters!) but we do try to keep the real ales in good nick.
Many thanks to Prague for his very kind words although he has billed me above my station. On that front Richard, I had left advertising by then but managed to purloin some viewing books from a good media buddy and put together the figures that you needed.

Was in The River Ale House pre- and post-Wembley and before the game yesterday so its now a compulsory stop before a Charlton game. Trevor’s a really nice guy and the beers are always great. The pic was taken at the Wembley after party
