Team for QPR
Elliot
Cranie --- Fortune --- Hudson --- Basey
Semedo
Bailey --- Wright
Shelvey
Waghorn --- Dickson
Fed up with the non performances of our wide players so i think we should go for a narrower diamond formation. Get Wright and Shelvey in the side. Waghorn i think has shown promise and it's time for a last throw of the dice for Parky, so get Dickson in the side.

You know what I'm really worried about that if that above team was put out and they were just as bad as the current team. If that was a "last throw of the dice" then we'd be well and truly f*cked!
But hey - what have we got to lose.0 -
A couple of adjustments-
1) Moot2 for Crainie, Todorov for Waghorn, so a team with NO loan players
2) Lloyd Sam on the right of the midfield diamond instead of Bailey. Sam has shown SOME creativity, whereas Bailey has lately gone to 'hump it and hope'. It was Bailey giving the ball away AGAIN that gave Derby possession in the 93rd minute last Monday.
There are limited options for wingers now - we're stuck with Bouazza, Wagstaff isn't up to it yet, Yussuf is untried, and Christensen is a mystery to most!0 -
Cranie is about 5 times a better defender than Moo2.
Just because he's on loan doesn't make him a bad player.0 -

Cranie has played well at right back in recent games. And i know there are limited options for wingers which was why i chose a diamond formation with a narrower midfield.0 -
As I keep saying on here, Crainie is a decent defender but contributes nothing, helping out going forward or overlapping which a full-back has to do, especially at home
Given that we have the worse defensive record in the league is it time to start pointing some fingers at the centre-halves?
in particular Hudson? at fault for Lita's goal on Saturday.
Lost Blackstock for both the goals at QPR.
Was marking the Blackpool striker who scored two.
And either he or Fortune let Ellington go walkies for his equalier.
Cranie at centre-back with Moo2 at right-back would be the option for me0 -
Whoever we have playing, I just wish they would shoot on sight.0

I really don't understand why we don't play Dickson, Shelvey and Wright - as has been said once or twice, we have nothing to lose and they couldn't be any worse. You never know, we might actually manage an attempt at goal. Shit or bust time, as they say.0

If we are going down, why not get the young lads who will be the face of charlton for the next few years playing now so they grow together, pards said this was the year he would blood the kids, wright, Arter, basey etc, put them in now i say.0
-
I would change it around. The current way of playing obviously isn't working so I would go for:
Elliot
Yassin Fortune Hudson Basey
Sam Shelvey Wright Bouazza
Toddy Gray
The worse which can happen is we lose another game...0 -

If you play that formation, you have to have attack minded full backs. Bassey doesn't have the pace and Cranie gets a nose bleed if he gets anywhere near the halfway line.
Would probably work well with Youga and Moot2 though.0 -

That's made me more depressed0 -
I can't see him putting in Shelvey or Wright. He'll probably put Holland back in and Burton in place of Waghorn.0
-
I generally can't stand Alan Hansen, but I thought he was spot on about Blackburn the other night. he said when a team is really struggling you keep it simple play 4-4-2 with a defensive midfielder and a slightly more attacking one and two wide men that work hard up and down the lines. It worked for Blackburn, so my team would be this. Let Holland sit give Wright a bit of freedom let Sam work hard up and down the lines only problem is left mid, maybe Shelvey, Bouazza for me doesn't work hard enough, maybe Gillespie and then switch Sam to the left, he can't cross anyway. I'm struggling.

Just seen that in 12 away games this season QPR have scored only THREE goals! That's even worse than us.0
-
Sinclairs a far better player than Bailey- all Bailey doesis give the ball away in dangerous positions, fouls the player in trying to get it back then spends the rest of the games moaning at the ref for giving the free-kick against him-out of his depth at the moment.0

And do you know what, that team would probably lose as well :(0 -
I agree with what you say but why bring in Holland, what is he going to add to the side?
The problem isn't Semedo or Bailey individually it's the fact that we are playing them together. Both are defensive players, so is it any wonder that we aren't creating anything.
I'm not convinced that Shelvey is ready however needs must and with Racon injured, we don't have anyone else so I'd drop one of Semedo or Bailey (probably Bailey) and have a midfield of Sam, Semedo, Shelvey and Bouazza.0 -
Players that need to be taken out of the first team for what ever reason first
Bailey ,Bouazza, Gray
Then i would play
Elliot
Cranie Fortune Hudson Bassey
Gillespie Shelvey Holland Sam
Dicko Waghorn
Bench
Solly
Mambo
Wright
Toddy
Mcleod0 -

I fear Large's team above is probably about right. If we play any football worth watching on Boxing Day I'm going to regard that as a bonus. I'm going with my two (adult) sons , who I only get to take about two or three times a season when they're both at home, and we're going to sing our hearts out and grow mistily, beerily eyed for when I used to take them to Selhurst as nippers. We had no ground then but what spirit that team had - people like Humphrey, Reid, Shirtliff, Peake, Walsh, Lee, Melrose... Even Leaburn. And Steve Thompson? Who remembers him? No way was he a top flight central defender but he gave no quarter and when he headed the ball out of our penalty area he used to do it with such total commitment that it frequently ended up in their half!
I said to AFKA the other day, what would you rather have - no ground and a team with spirit - or a team with no spirit and the best ground in the world? There's no contest really, for me...
I'm going to enjoy myself v QPR even though I expect us to serve up utter sh**e, because I'm going to be in the best company in the world - my two sons. But the team they're going to be watching is a travesty compared to the side they grew up on...0 -
So, six years ago, this thread suggested the following team to play QPR.

Which of those XI would make the team now? I have highlighted who I think.0 -

At the level they were then or are now? Elliot's in the Premier League while Fortune and Basey's most recent appearances were in non-league.0

Elliot is head and shoulders better than our keepers now. Hudson much better than any of our CB. Shelves obviously, no to the others ( unless we are talking Fortune in his prime)2
