  • Phew, that's one man at least we can rely on to put his neck on the line over the next 19 games.

    Eh?

    Oh, right....

Marking his player and not being suckered aimlessly towards the ball would be a nice start too.......Oops, too late!

From what he says, he likes that Steve Coppell at Reading too. If I knew any better he could be angling for a move to the Madjesk-

    Eh?

    Fair enough....

the Vicar is right (Murty Vicar?) - it seems like some fans don't think we can stay up but on the evidence from Saturday I would say that the players and management team are up for the battle. It was a sickening result, but a decent performance in many ways. Dominated for at least twenty minutes until we gift wrapped the game for them - yet again with stupid mistakes - they had not been in the game at all. And second half we battled on and never gave up - and of course their keeper pulled off a blinding save from Ambrose.

I am not saying we will stay up, but we have 19 opportunities to rectify the position and I am glad that the team at least appears to have some fight back in it.

I am not having a go, all I am saying is that some fans don't think we have a chance of staying up - read just about any thread on here. That is fair enough, and they may be right.

I know and I can see why you feel like that but if that was/is the players' attitude then it would obviously be self-fulfilling, I saw the performance as evidence that that is not their attitude. That said I would rather have seen another shit performance but us winning.

Salad mate, I can't see anyone here who has thrown in the towel?

This thread is just a bit of tongue-in-cheek light relief and, for me personally, I DO find it quite funny that the fighting talk is coming from a man who, as it stands, will probably play three or four more games for us and who last week, on joining us, told Reading's official web site he joined Charlton as their own reserves only had one game in January and he needed to get his fitness up (to contest a place in their squad).

Of course what else is he going to say? But, if things go according to plan for Murty, he'll be long gone by the time we either stage our great escape or accept our fate. I have no idea which way it will go but after 18 games without a win I wouldn't blame anyone who felt pessimistic. Everyone's different.

And I know, over the years, you have always been one of the more upbeat personalities - which is best, whether we're talking football or life in general ;-)

ps EDITED - OK, just to say I hadn't read GH's later remarks before I posted these comments. That's his view which is absolutely fine. Anyway, for me I posted to this thread for some light relief!!! :-)
