What a game. All in control in 1st half, 1-0 up,
2-1 down 10 mins in the 2nd half but the lads dug in.
Mendonca, class ...... so cool, just quality.
And Roof, what an equaliser, what a ground, what a time to score your 1st goal, 85th min.
I can't believe it. What a day!

Wow that was tense second time around - what a cracking experience that was, real quality at times with lots of hard graft and team spirit.1

The cameras are in the Charlton dressing room now, all our players are singing, "Super, Super Clive, Super Clive Mendonca!" as he holds the trophy, big grin on his face.

Great result. I’m worried that they will smash us if we have to play them at Wembley again in the future7

I loved it when Curbs said "The supporters have been through so much..." Piece of cake so far.

Been a while since I watched the entire game back. Even putting aside the goals, Mendonca had an almost flawless match, his touch and hold up play was exceptional all game. Add in the goals, each of which were brilliant brilliant finishes for different reasons, and it is surely one of the finest individual performances by a Charlton player. Looks even better when you factor in the scale of the occasion. Also, some things never change. Even that brilliant side, that had had the better of the first half, kept their danger men quiet, got its nose in front.... still it’s a soft goal conceded from a corner 5 minutes after half time and suddenly they’re rocking all over the place. Clive makes it 2-2 and we conceded again within minutes. Even on one of its greatest days it pulled out all the tricks to put the fans through the wringer. This fucking club will never change!
Sunderland so unlucky on the day. The way they reacted second half and took the game to us, neither side deserved to lose. We were better first half, they were better second half, and probably slightly the better side over the balance of the 90 mins. Three key things from them on the day though. Quinn’s shot over the bar on about 55 mins - Quinn was a real handful for them but Mendonca buries that chance. Perez’s flap - a glaring individual error that we managed avoid making. Having to substitute Phillips, a sure fire goal in the penalty shootout replaced by a striker who didn’t even have to balls to watch his teammates take theirs - so important for us that we had big big hearts to bring off the bench in Jones, Robinson, and Brown.
What a match.6 -

Once it got to 7-6 I knew we'd win. It's such an iconic score in Charlton's history, and now it's in that history twice.1

Enjoyed watching that today but can't believe that we beat them at Wembley again. What's that? Three times now? Weren't we supposed to be playing Cardiff yesterday?0

Just listened to Robinson talking about his penalty history prior to this match. Glad i didn't know that before the game! Taken only two before; one aged 12 (missed) one against Norwich for his hat trick (missed) and Curbs went mad as he wasn't (obv) the designated taker.3
