R.I.P Robert Byrne

Unfortunately we have lost another member of the Charlton Family, I received this sad information from @kellycafc Robert was the dad of her mums friend and was a lifelong long fan.

Not sure if anyone on here knew him, but the below information and pictures came from his family(who have been sent the link to this thread so will read any messages left)

Robert Byrne or Bob as he liked to be known was a life long Charlton supporter, Bob grew up in South East London. He lived in Walworth & The Elephant & Castle most of his life until he moved to Erith in the late 1990’s. Bob was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia in 2004 shortly after the death of his Granddaughter Bobbie aged 11 years old, she was named after Bob.

Bob was diagnosed with bladder cancer on 13th March 2020. The following week his family learned the cancer had spread to other vital organs & the cancer was terminal. Bob sadly passed away on 23rd March 2020 with his daughters at his bedside.

Bob’s memory will live on through his families thoughts, memories, photos & stories, Bob’s gone but will never ever be forgotten.
